Endless Replayability Festival

Black Dragon Mage is proudly participating in Steam's Endless Replayability Fest from May 13th to May 20th! Check out the demo if you haven't played it yet & make sure to wishlist the game.

In Black Dragon Mage, players get to experience varying stage hazards (maps use procedural generation) on every run, as well as randomized upgrades for unique combinations of active skills, passive upgrades and stats.

More of the roguelite goodness will follow in the full retail release of the game, which I'm excited to share with y'all when ready.

Currently in the works, soon in playtesting: Exciting boss battles to challenge your spellslinging skills and tactical finesse, further leaning into the thrilling switch between bullet heaven and bullet hell!

auto-fire & other improvements

there's a new auto-fire toggle for your main staff - which also enables auto-aim!

toggle it at any time using: middle mouse or TAB
or, on controller, using down on the d-pad or by clicking the right stick

Changelist

added auto-fire
override auto-aim direction while auto-firing by tilting the right controller stick, or by regularly aiming and clicking with the mouse - this will keep auto-attack going, but allow you to be picky about whom to blast with your elemental staff! (thanks, Nosteru!)
added: controls overview in pause menu
improved: spawn timing
new display default: borderless fullscreen
updated: translations
improved: warning when leaving run and losing progress
bugfix: certain perks were buffing unrelated spells

Demo Bugfixes & Improvements

bugfix: music now loops properly, in some instances songs were transitioning too early
bugfix: solved issues with some ultrawide/widerscreen resolutions not displaying properly
bugfix: disabling screenshake did not affect some interactions in the hall of relics
bugfix: fixed some instances of the game becoming unresponsive in the background
improvement: all resolutions supported by the monitor should now be selectable
improvement: borderless fullscreen mode by default
improvement: game music keeps on running when the game is backgrounded

Crash bug.

Hey, there. Love the demo, wish-listed the game. However, every two or three runs, I get a "Unity Crash" when I select "Start New Run". Game hangs on black screen with a colorful line on the right side, and stays there until I Ctrl+Alt+Del and end the task manually....

Demo Tips & Upcoming Patches

Don't miss the second map! The second door in the hall of relics (next to the desert door) will open at some point during the demo. Keep playing if it has not opened for you yet! I've seen some streamers that haven't entered the second map, but it's there. :) Don't miss the dragon! When your power bar (the blue one) is full, you can summon the dragon with the right mouse button (or the right shoulder button, RB, on a controller). I've seen people miss that bit and will improve the onboa...

- menu works partially, music can be muted, but settings changes don't save automatically. there is a button to "apply" but then it asks to keep resolution changes, when resolution hasn't been changed. changes could auto-apply and there could be a check if resolution was changed or not. there is no FPS limiter just a VSYNC, and i doubt people want to run it at 360 Hz. - stats seem barebones, there was no DPS feedback given for starter choices, and it's not clear how weapon or skills A,B,C are important, b...

Potential but so much wrong.

Base walk speed too low, cooldown between attacks too long, while I like feeling op, I spew so many projectiles that the game isn't even remotely difficult, and I can't believe I am going to say this, but you level up far too often. I level up so often that I don't feel like I'm killing anything....
