Prideful Sloth did it again! They made another awesome and cute game. In Go-Go Town you're the new mayor of an upcoming town, and you can design it all. In the beginning, it is a lot of busy work, but very soon you'll get helpers who will clean up the place and deliver goods to the right places. Go-Go Town is such a good and addictive game. I played through the story in one "long" session.

Approximate amount of time to 100%: 12 hours active play and many many hours idling atm, but this might chance ;) [EDIT: I heard that I have been speeding the game without noticing it and that the average player takes more than 12 hours to complete the story. Also keep in mind that it is Early Access and more content will be added]

I adore the games Prideful Sloth makes. I enjoyed Yonder a lot and I loved Grow: Song of the Evertree and somehow Go-Go Town is even better! I was afraid this game couldn't reach my expectations as this was one of my highest wishlisted games for 2024, but gladly it didn't disappoint, I just fell in love very soon after starting the game.

You are the mayor of this new city and your job is to grow the tourism in the city as that will earn the mega-corporation that recruited you the town money so it can keep improving. Some people might be interested in joining your town, but most of the time they have a requirement before they join your town. If you complete what they ask and give them a space to live, then they will start working for you... running the shops, cleaning the city, and more stuff like that. I'm very glad they help you out, so you don't have to keep doing the small tasks but can focus on bigger things... designing your town, or riding your skateboard and doing tricks... (very important!).

The amount of detail that went into Go-Go Town is insane. Not only can you place objects like slides in your town, but the people will also use them, which is so adorable! Another highlight is that you see everything in your backpack/storage boxes. So you don't even have to open the storage to know what is in there. I also love the character design of the "people" that visit your town. Just so many details, it is insane!

Go-Go Town released in early access but the amount of bugs I encountered were just a few. Mostly people who wanted specific quest items and those not count toward their requirements. Gladly there are more than enough townfolks to recruit so, for now, I didn't miss them and I'm sure this will be fixed soon.

The achievements in Go-Go Town are mostly quite relaxing. They allow you to just go ahead and enjoy the game without worrying about them. Nothing is missable and there are quests with a time limit, but if you fail you can just try it again the next day. I would recommend doing the small stuff from time to time while playing through the story, so you don't have to grind chopping trees or throw away garbage at the end of the game. Try to use the vehicles as much as you can, as there is an achievement for using them for a while.

At this moment there are 1 semi grindy (A bunch of EGO) and one very grindy (loads and loads of Money) achievement in the game. I estimate that I need around 40 idle hours in total for my not-optimized town to reach the amount of money that is needed. However, the developers already told me that the requirements might change/be turned down in the future so it isn't this long. Furthermore, I prefer this grindy type where you just can run the game (even in the background) over hardcore achievements, or achievements for which you need to actively play. It is quite a lot and maybe my town just sucks but I don't mind having the game running in the background for the next 1,5 day.

I give Go-Go Town! 5 out of 5 stars. This is quite rare that I rate a game the perfect score, but this was just such a lovely game.

Amazing game, Animal Crossing meets Automation and actual fun customization of the town. Even in early access it can keep you entertained for hours and hours just building up an amazing town and getting everything the way you want it. Definitely well worth the money and a blast to play. The future possibilities with this game are endless.

I'm Updating my review to confirm it takes a lot of hours to design a nicely laid out town where you use 70 of the 73 townies you can collect currently. Anyone complaining about not enough content might not of been interested in customization but if you are, the content is certainly there.

Works great on my steamdeck and 4 player couch coop is sorely missed these days so i'm very happy this game has it! Looking forward to the future!
