New Features

Play space increase: 5 new areas of the map to unlock.
- Visit your Friendly and professional Real Estate Agent to unlock new construction areas throughout
Zone Customisation: Players can now modify and create the location and size of industry zones (Fishing, Forestry, Mining, Farming).
- Added 3 new zones for the player to place (Giving a total of 4 of each zone type).
- Added New Zone Border Visuals.
- Added New ‘Zone’ Section in Build Menu.
- Added New Prop “Mining Shafts”: these link to new mining interiors.
- Modified prop spawning rules in zones to fit the new dynamic shapes.
- Player can now freely move props within industry zones (ie, Trees, Shrubs etc).
- Player can give each zone an Icon to help identify them.

Bugfixes, Improvements and Fixes

Import Menu
- Import App has been re-designed to better help you locate items.

Building Menu
- Added Terrain Eyedropper - In build mode you can now press Tab/Y to jump to the terrain tile that is currently under the cursor.
- Building menu will now wrap back to start upon reaching the end of the list.
- Building menu ‘groups’ are now uniquely styled to increase clarity.
- Items are now all stored in correct groups in the Build Menu
- Fixed prompts in build mode saying you could delete an item when you couldn’t
- Stopped the drone in build mode from triggering an effect when you perform an invalid delete action
- Fixed Coop build mode issues where players could place more props than they were given.
- Fixed flickering when moving the cursor in build mode.
- Shells will now display the name of the Fitout when hovering over the structure in build mode.
- Resolved issue where pressing rotate and move at the same time would teleport a prop to 0,0.
- Resolved an issue where dropping a prop in the same frame as it was deleted could cause issues.
Customisation Menu
- Added Seen/Unseen indicators to Customisation Menu.
Storage
- Allow players to lock items in Storage Area.
- Fixed issues with Storage Area not correctly updating worker preferences when moved.
- Small and Medium storage boxes are now colour-coded based on which zone they are in, and which workers will use it.
- Fixed issue where storage boxes would spit out all items when locks were removed.
Misc UI
- Phone Nag alerts will now dismiss as soon as you open the phone app, instead of having to schedule a challenge, or install an app.
- New icons for townies when their join requirements can be met.
- Import Menu : Alphabetically sort items. This is just a quick update to help you find what you’re looking for to tide you over until we give it a helpful redesign.
Gameplay
- Adjusted small vehicle collision shape to exclude the rear of the vehicle, should stop players being hit by a vehicle as they run up behind it.
- Fixed Pill Bug from being ever-so-slightly off-centre
- Added ‘Unstuck’ Option to pause menu to help you if you get stuck in an area you can’t escape from.
Autosave Improvements
- Added on-screen indicator while Autosaving
- Attempt to not trigger a second autosave on exit when the current save is still valid ( this is to stop churning through autosave slots ).from.
Misc Bugfixes
- Fixed issue where player could get stuck if they were actively using a tool when a cinematic was triggered.
- Fixed issue where Agents were facing the wrong way.
- Resolved issues with Storage Shuffle sorting by size and not type.
- Resolved issue where a second player could invite a townie without paying the join fee.
- Modified seed text on manage menu to say "x Seed Types Available" instead of "x Seeds Available".
- Game should no longer freeze when quitting
Key Rebind Bugfixes
- Fixed issues where using non-QWERTY keyboards could result in incorrect glyphs being displayed
- Fixed issues binding with various input types.
AI and Pathfinding
- Improvements to Maintenance worker pathfinding which should reduce the amount of time they stand idle attempting to navigate to dirty tiles.
- Fixed issue where workers would pick up and drop items if there was absolutely zero storage in a zone.
- Resolved issues where AI Pathfinding could take long times on larger levels.
- Resolved a lot of the worker juggling issues (Note: There are still more to fix, but this should help in the meantime).
- Resolved issues with AI Pathfinding and diagonals.
- Maintenance workers should no longer form conga line and all try to grab the same bubble gun/Garbage
- Maintenance workers will now idle correctly when they have no active tasks
- Resolved some issues with Worker AI and item desirability not being correctly updated when modifying recipes
Design and Balance
- New Recipe for Feed for the Food Processor. Given when the player unlocks the Cow Stall. Currently 1 Wheat = 2 Feed.
- Added Export Missions for Herbs n Spice, Tomatoes, Feed, and Fluff.
- Lowered drop rates for Herbs n Spice
- Adjusted Whispy townie spawn requirement to be when 1 Jack-O'-Lantern is placed instead of 3.
- Increased the amount of farm plots the player can purchase in the import catalogue.
- Various new items added to the import catalogue. Some items must be discovered or unlocked in EGO tech app before they appear in the import catalogue.
- EGO Tech updates to support new content: additions to some unlock packages as well as completely new packages to unlock.
- Added new Townpedia entries for Subway Stations, Zone Editing and Vehicle Parking.
- Recipe for Protein in Feed Maker using Large Mushrooms.
- Added Large mushroom seeds to tech tree.
- Cactus and Rock Piles from the desert can now be ordered via Import after discovery.
- Added a bunch of vehicles to Import which will appear after the player has driven that particular type.
General
- Added New 'Gull' critter type, which will appear near non-desert sand tiles .
- Each fishing spot now has a unique shadow.
- Improved Fog rendering at far distances.

Hi all!

This week is going to be a quick one from me. That's because I really only have one bit of news, and it's the news you've been waiting for!

Build and Bustle (Player Feedback Pack) Releases Next Week!

We are excited to announce that the Build and Bustle Pack will be releasing into Main Branch on Monday 16th (12.00 AEST, +10 GMT) for us, and Sunday evening for our players in the Americas!

Our friends at Game Rant wrote up this nice little exclusive[gamerant.com] which includes details on the update, brand new screenshots, updated branding and key imagery, and a handy breakdown of the release time for key regions. You can read the article here[gamerant.com].

We want to thank everyone who joined the preview branch to get a sneak peek at what we've been working on! Your feedback and reporting have been invaluable in helping shape this update and turn it into something amazing.

As there is so much in this update, Emily is preparing (with input from our Preview Branch players) a series of 'tips and hints' that will help you get the most out of the new update.

Aside from the update, I wanted to address a couple of missteps in my comms over the past few weeks!

Our aim is to always be transparent with our player base, however, when not properly worded it does create uncertainty and confusion. Which, in seeking feedback from members of the community, I inadvertently did create some confusion.

Roadmap is not clear about 'main branch' vs 'preview branch' and my comms are not either. I will ensure going forward that this is better defined and understandable going forward!
Releases and the impact of team member holidays were not clear. Sorry if this worried people! Updates and the project are important, and the whole team isn't suddenly dropping work to go on holidays. We are continuing to update the game and will be for some time. We are trying to make sure we find a balance here; making sure we continue to support the game, but also making sure each team member gets a chance to step away and recharge batteries.

Just like any other part of Early Access, communications are integral to the process. So, I am always looking for feedback on our comms so that they clear on what we are doing.

We are looking forward to bringing you a HEAP of news on Monday about the update, and if you can't wait until the 16th, you can always have a last peek at the update in our preview branch (your preview branch save will work in the main branch once the update goes live).

As I'll be posting on the 16th, I'm aiming for my next 'weekly' update to land on the 28th.

Also, happy lack of jetlag :D I am a much more awake Sloth this week, and there's a lot to talk about, but also there's a few things I need to hold back on for just a tad bit longer 😭

Feedback Pack - Preview Branch

This has been going VERY well! Thank you to everyone who has joined us in this branch. Your feedback, and excitement, have been amazing!

Since we released into Preview, the update has had 3 updates of its own! This includes bug fixes, but also a few new features, and some new content. Look! We can't help ourselves :)

I'll have an exact release date for you next Friday (the 13th!!! 👻). We (by we, I mean Emily) is looking at putting together a series of hints and tips that should help you get the most out of this update.

Crossover Update (Major update 2)

With the Feedback update starting to wrap up nicely, next week we'll be moving the Art and Design team on to this so we can start getting full details mapped out.

I'm excited for this one and cannot wait to talk more about it! We'll be working on some details and hopefully next month we'll have a 'proper' announcement coming out.

Future - Minor Updates + Major Update 3

We had a small burst of discussion this week about future updates; as well as starting to formulate some ideas around what we want to do for minor updates, we've started thinking about the next layer of feedback we've seen and using it to help form Major Update 3.

Next week (likely mid to late next week) we are going to start mapping out what the rest of this year looks like for us and get an idea of what our release schedule will look like.

Our main goals working towards the end of the year are as follows:

Get the team some much needed holidays very soon
Get the team a nice break over Christmas
Focus on the next two major updates
Changing focus of what minor updates provide (bug fixes always sit outside of this)

Start Planning Online Multiplayer

We know many of you have been waiting for this feature! We've been hoping to start scheduling out time to start looking into this.

We still have a couple more major updates this year for you, however, we are trying to plan ahead enough that our programming team can work through the features for the rest of the year earlier. That way, as the content team works on these, code will have time to start investigating what online co-op will mean for Go-Go Town!

We are keen to dive into this, however, we need to make sure code has time to focus on online, thus (as noted above) the minor updates may be more content focused, than feature focused in the future.

Multiplayer is still very much a 'next year' feature. However, we wanted to make sure we talk about our plans to start on it. We know it's an important feature to many players in our community.

There's a lot this week so I'm going to summarise:

Player Feedback Updates is HUGE. There's so much going on in this update. There's still time if you want to join us in the Preview Branch to get a sneak peek of what's happening. Otherwise, hold tight and I'll have a release date and full details for you next week.

Hi all,

I am BACK! And ready to dive into this week’s update.

Preview Branch – Player Feedback Pack
We released Major Update 1, the ‘Player Feedback Pack’ into our Preview Branch.

It’s already generating a lot of chatter on our Discord server, which we are super excited to see. We’ve also got some great feedback and some bug reports, which we’ll be working through.

Depending on how the feedback goes, we’ll be looking to move this into main sometime in the next week or two (week of Sept 2nd or Sept 9th). Gamescom
It’s always a busy week at Gamescom! The events start before the show, and somehow keep going even after it has officially wrapped up – Needless to say, I am a tired (and jetlagged) sloth this week.

Gamescom is always a great opportunity to meet up with amazing developers, as well as players! I had a wonderful time meeting so many of you at the show, and hearing about how some of you read all our updates! It made me happy to hear that these are useful.

Also! For those who might have missed the news, we had two jailbreak codes for Gamescom. One we posted on Twitter/X and one we gave out at the booth. It now appears both codes are in circulation, so I want to share them here as well:

Player Feedback Pack gamescom Preview

I’m SUPER excited to excited to announce that I am going to be showing a first look at the Player Feedback Pack during gamescom next week! So, keep an eye out on social media and/or game press websites next week for exclusive details on this pack! Once I get back from gamescom, I’ll be able to share more details with you. 👀

I will, however, sneak this into the update just for you! As the map is getting WAY bigger, we’ve been working on ways to allow you to signpost/mark areas, so they are easier to recognise.

gamescom + Jailbreak codes

We will be part of the Indie Arena Booth at gamesom this year, and it is such a highlight to be showcased along with so many other amazing indie games.

We have a couple of special Jailbreak codes for Gamescom. One will be posted via social media next week; the other is a bit more elusive… you’ll need to come find us at gamescom and ask for the code directly. What you do with the code after you receive it, is up to you! :wink:

Lighting system updates

Dynamic lighting changes to solve overly dark areas when there are lots of buildings packed together
Added indirect environmental reflections and occlusion to the radiosity lighting system. This makes things look much nicer at night!
Graphics option "Lighting Quality = Ultra" now targets a higher spec hardware (higher quality, higher cost trade off)
Graphics option "Lighting Quality = Low" now targets lower spec hardware (cheaper cost, lower quality trade off)

Optimisations

Optimise how items are stored in storage
Optimise courier job search
Optimise path finding updates

General Fixes

Fixed some rare cases where items could not be stored
Fixed some edge cases where couriers can drop items

Go-Go Town! Preview Branch is now available!

Hello Mayors!

We are officially opening up our Preview Branch for testing, and wanted to let you all know in case you wanted to join in. Here's some FAQs for you, as well as instructions on how to get in:

What is the Preview Branch?

The Preview Branch is a place for us to test out larger or more complicated changes early in order to get feedback before we push it live to the rest of the players.

Using the Preview Branch does get you access to the latest and greatest patches, however it does come with an increased risk of game breaking bugs or instability.

Rest assured we automatically back up your saves, so should you wish to return to the Main branch you are able to do so!

Once we are happy with the changes in the Preview Branch, we will bring them back to Main for all our players to enjoy.

How to switch to the Preview Branch?

Right click on the game in your steam library and select Properties, then
Select ‘Betas’ from the menu
Under ‘Beta Participation’ select ‘preview’.

What happens to my saved games?

You can load your saves as normal in the preview branch. However, whenever you save over an old save that was created from the main/default branch the game will archive this file so you can recover it later if there was an issue on preview.

These archives of main branch saves are stored in

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Prideful Sloth\Go-Go Town!\SaveArchive

Each save will be in its own sub directory so you can open this folder and copy saves back to the main save directory if you would like to load them in the main branch.

How do I submit feedback or bug reports?

To submit feedback or bug reports while in the preview branch, please use the F8 Feedback form as normal. Feel free to add your Steam username or Discord[discord.gg] (if you're in the Prideful Sloth Discord) handle to the description on the report so we can contact you if we need extra information. We also have a dedicated set of channels on our Discord server specifically reserved for Preview Branch conversation that you're welcome to join.

Can I switch back?

Of course! Keep in mind, that any saves that were made while in the Beta Branch will likely not work when returning to the main branch. So you may need to transfer previous saves back out of your Save Archive to continue from where you left off.

How do I know which Branch I am in ?

If you have the game running, you can look to the version number watermark:

If you are in the Preview Branch, the version number will be red, and have a ‘PREVIEW’ suffix. Main will be white, with an ‘EA’ suffix.

From the Steam Library, the game name will be displayed as if you are in the preview branch :

Hi all!

OMG! How is it Friday already?! This week has flow by, and there was a moment where I almost forgot to do this weeks update. Forgive me, please?!

This week will be a shorter update, as most of the magic is happening behind the scenes this week. So lets dive right in.

Progress Update - Major Update 1 – Player Feedback Pack:

The teams focus this week has been on:

subways, and getting tourists to move around town
dynamic spawning of resources, which is part of the zone customisation
design work around how you'll unlock the new buildable areas

Minor Update 5:

As well as working on the Player Feedback Pack, the team has been working through bug fixes and another minor content drop.

Here's a sneak peak at some new terraforming tiles that will be released in the update.

Outstanding Bugs

We are still working to squash the bugs that you have reported. However, we know there are some issues that have been outstanding.

Do please let us know below, in the Discussion forum, in our Discord, or via the Feedback form if there's some issues you have hit that are still waiting for fixes! We do our best to prioritise issues based off the notes provided, but we might also miss out on important info sometimes. So keep poking us!

Preview Branch Update

Depending on how the team is getting on with things, I might not have an update for you next week. We are working on a lot of core systems for the Player Feedback Pack, and I'm not sure if they'll be 'work in progress' show-able.

If I don't do an update next week for y'all, I'll make it up to you on the 16th August update! Pinky promise and everything.
