So... no new content at all?

I guess that's one way to approach Early Access. But you're saying "content complete," does that mean there won't be any post-launch additions too? Sorry, but the vast majority of best roguelites out there live or die by their post-launch updates. If there won't be any from start here, that's a poor proposition compared to other great games in the genre....

Early Access Review

Spent several hours with the demo for Odinfall a while ago, and the release version still comes across as a solid, fancied up Nuclear Throne, with a cute weapon upgrade system, where you add attachments to weapons that change their core stats (eg, adding "spread" to your axe will attack in three directions, but cost ammo or shot delay), and fairly typical metaprogression for characters as they level up (take note, if Nuclear Throne not having metaprogression was a feature). The action has a good speed and feel, as one should expect from something that doesn't paint too far outside the established lines, but Odinfall at least manages to do so with conviction.

Co-op was a key feature, but it was removed before opening early access. Hopefully that was just temporary, and we'll see a timeline on that coming back soon, but removing all mentions of it from the store page and early access plans is pretty concerning. If you're looking for co-op, make sure the devs are moving on it first.

I do wish these games would just have a separate melee weapon specific slot instead of always coming back to the annoying two weapon slots design, where if you want to play with guns plural, you can run out of ammo. Especially here, where you have upgrades stacked on guns and don't want to just pick up whatever the next thing at your feet is when ammo is low. Still, hardly an issue unique to this game.

Also, the "tutorial" is kind of terrible. You'd honestly be better off just thrown into a run, since there aren't many controls in the first place (shoot, swap, dash, and special).

Anyway, it's pretty fun, once you're through to shooting things.

Early Access Review

I've followed the development of Odinfall for a long time, and I'm very happy to say that it has surpassed my expectations by A LOT. Extremely satisfying gameplay with tons of variety, incredible music, and amazing artwork.

I'm looking forward to seeing where the developers take it in the future.

Yes, i do recommend you to buy it. Big improvements over Gaunt Vaalkyr/beta build. Best fun you can have outside of Enter the Gungeon/Nuclear Throne.

EA Feedback:
Britta becomes a blurry mess when you walk in axial directions, same for some enemies. A lot of excessive animations on everything, especially on player model. 60 fps cap make all this even harder to read. Walking in hub with no hands attached feels wrong, Player hitbox is meh. With hero models THIS big i kinda expect to take damage with circle under my character, or maybe body only, not with any random horn/hair pixel. Wait for animation end on chest opening is infuriating. AREA CLEAR obstruct gun names in gun description bubble all the time. Crossroads on map feels too sticky.

How do weapon challenges work?

This unlocked with three initial challenges: get 30 kills, attach a mod to a weapon, and beat bandit canyon. I did all three of those things in the next run, and the challenges are still there the same as before 0/whatever.
