Not terribly bad for a single run as the Entente or the Central Powers. Very shallow and repetitive gameplay loop that could be far better if the game wasn't abandoned by the developers upon release. It would have been cool to have a roadmap on release too so that we could see planned future updates, however, none were ever actually in the works.

The developers clearly did not want to pursue cleaning up this unfinished game or the braindead/cheating AI and instead enabled mod support so that the steam community can work for them for free. If you have a look at the developers interaction with the community you'll soon find that the rug was pulled and they have been quiet ever since enabling mod support. There was near no interaction with the community prior to workshop.

Do not buy this game, it sat in my library for a whole year before I actually gave it a proper shot and I cannot really recommend the game at all in its current unfinished state, the workshop won't fix whats wrong with this game. The whole game just feels clunky and the amount of bugs make the game feel like its still stuck in Early Access Hell rather than a finished product. The campaign map (not the campaign itself) is pretty decent and I do like the hexmap style of strategic planning, the game really lacks in any sort of replayability though, mainly due to it being abandoned after launch with no content other than whats in the shallow and bland basegame.

As someone who likes history and the World Wars, this game isn't it. its a quickly abandoned cash grab if anything. All the devs have done with this game since its release is add mod support so that it looks like the game is still alive and thriving, it is not. There is a good reason why this game went from 4k average players on launch to the measly 100 current players this month.

One last thing, this game should be worth like $20 AUD maximum with whats included, don't let the fact that its "fully released" fool you. They absolutely fumbled the perfect Strategic WW1 concept with their own laziness.

A true shame.

This game has been on my wish list for a long time. i was held back by the mixed reviews and decided to finally buy it after a big discount. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised. It's far to be perfect, the graphics are a bit outdated, the path finding could be much better etc etc... I'm sure that you will find an extensive list of all the issues in the other comments but I have fun with it and would recommend it as long as you know what to expect

pretty fun game, it just gets a bit repetitive after a while. they really could add more different types of units and overall more micro possibilities during the battles, like using mortars during attacks, snipers/scouts for weakening the enemy before attacking, etc.. this way every battle would feel different from the others due to different tactics and/or unit composition. right now especially attack usually follows the same formula: keep the enemy suppressed with arty, send waves of infantry.
