More Turok. But definitely the weakest of the series.

The Netherscape is a dimension between realities. One could imagine reality as a space filled with bubbles, each bubble representing another realm, another Universe. The Netherscape would be the space between them all. In one such space there exists an ancient, cosmic consciousness called Oblivion. This being devoured everything within it's realm, leaving it as an empty void, save for itself. It permeated this void and reigned in the nothingness. That is until the Primagen hurtled through this void during his ill-fated journey to witness creation. Oblivion was injured by this inter-dimensional penetration and as a result, became aware of existence elsewhere and the threat that could pose to itself.
Now it seeks a way out of it's realm, a way into the Netherscape, and from there, everywhere else.

Enter the Flesh Eaters, ancient beings that harassed Joshua during his efforts to defeat the Primagen, attempting to thwart his success; and which continue to haunt him in his dreams. They are aware of Oblivion's existence as they are presumably a part of Oblivion itself, dragged through the temporary hole the Primagen punched through the void. They are as offspring to Oblivion, and have since corrupted flesh in the Lost Land to form bodies and seek to open the way for Oblivion from their side, bringing it's full horror forth to devour all of reality. Or at least enough to allow Oblivion to manifest physically in the time-stream.

Having failed to do so during the Primagen's assault, in which they had hoped to defeat Joshua, allowing the Primagen to succeed in destroying the Lost Land and providing a chance for Oblivion to enter the time-stream proper; the Flesh Eaters continue to seek the end of the Turok line so as to not be foiled again when Oblivion inevitably breaches the Netherscape itself.

An incredibly ambitious game for the platform it originally released on. The Half-Life inspirations are clear, but the N64 was not built for a game of this scope. Turok 1 and 2 are masterpieces that pushed the N64 to it's limits, but this game just tries something the system could not handle. Everything in the game just feels like a budget half-like.

Huge fan of T2 back on the ol' N64, but never played this as it never got to my rental store. Hearing about it, it sounded amazing - human enemies, more cinematic storytelling, more bosses, bigger levels, crazier weapons - but twenty years later, I feel like it just wasn't worth the wait. On paper, the scope of T3 is a lot bigger than its predecessor, but it falls short on nearly everything.

A positive review and credit, as ever, to Nightdive on their work their work on this excellent port, but T2 and its remake remain is the pinnacle of the series for me, this is potentially only really worth it for die hard fans only.
