The game resolution is set to 16:9 but the aspect ratio of the game window is set to 4:3. Thus wasting 1/3 of the screen. I can't see a fix in the game menu. Please help.

I've put around 3 hours into the game so far and am still very confused about what I'm supposed to do. I think I need to collect a bunch of gears to activate a lift but it's almost impossible to find all of them within the current time limit. Many puzzles are obtuse as well such as a skeleton running around with a cart that knocks you down to a lower level or a large skeleton activating burners. Music plays during these as if they are a boss fight but there doesn't seem to be anything that can be done to...
