This one is pretty cheap, so I'll give it an unenthusiastic recommend. It's not worth a cent over $5.

Reading other reviews, I don't see why this has such high ratings. This game was very underwhelming for me.

Some spoilers ahead. The spoiler-free summary is that its a tedious experience with very underwhelming payoffs.

My chief complaint is the tedious license plate checking system. You have to look at your computer on an unsorted, non-alphabetical list for each plate. Really obnoxious. You power through, and for what, some unexplained cheap jumpscares and a 'Gainax ending.'

Okay, maybe multiple replays will reveal bits more of the story, or allow the player a bit more interaction. This is just the beginning right?

I replayed multiple times and experimented with letting different cars through each time. Although I did unlock most of the game's endings, I was generally disappointed by the lack of player impact. There are only two cars that matter, the blue car, and the black car at the end. Most of the cars it makes absolutely no difference if you let them in or deny them. What a waste of my time, you don't even get some flavor text acknowledging your decisions. So looking at that list on the computer was a waste of my time.

The game took a huge downturn when it turned into a dungeon crawler. We get some more agency, yay! Oh wait, it's really boring and confusing. This dungeon was a pain to navigate, many areas look the same, and finding these hidden switches was almost impossible. You have to look behind every single inch to find some of these, it took me way too long.

Were the endings good at least? They were okay. It reminds me of a game like 'Layers of Fear' where you get a bunch of nonsense ♥♥♥♥ thrown at you, then given a tiny amount of plot, and are expected to be happy with that. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with leaving certain aspects of the story up for interpretation, I don't want an exposition dump. But many things in the endings make zero sense, or even seem to contradict other endings.

All we got for a plot is the one lady who died in an experiment (driving the black car as a ghost), and the revelation that the company found some ancient portal device in the ocean years ago. That's about it. No explanation on what was happening in some of these endings.

The very final ending sadly, is also very underwhelming. It seems to be a surreal purgatory world where the PC is in the land of the dead, finding his own coffin, etc. It doesn't advance the mystery of the corporation's secrets or relate to the main gameplay loop in any meaningful way. It's just tacked on, adds more confusion, and is kinda boring.

But I guess it was okay for $5. Just stop acting like it's a masterpiece, it's not.
