I really need single player mode

Can't seem to find the way to get 101 points in these stages, any hints?

steps to recreate the problem. we have two controllers connected to one computer. the computer sees they are separate controllers. we start game and select host game then chose two player mode. the start button is inactive even though there are two characters shown (my guy and my clone). hovering over the start button it says "another player needed" how is it 2 player mode but you need 3 players? please help....
