Issues loading?

When I select to play the game it seems to try and open it through DOSBox, but then it closes nearly immediately. Is there something that I just need to download/do to get it to actually work?

Any guides online?

I have the hard copy of the game guide but its rather inaccessible. I wanted to know the differencen between magic swords and magic axes. Surprised I couldn't even find that on gamefaqs. Would be great to get all the item stats.
