I found this game through Next Fest a year or so ago, and fell in love with the demo, so I figured I would play the game. A little late, but it was well worth it! This easily is one of my favorite games to play, and there was a lot more depth to it than I had initially thought while playing the demo. I will say though that this friendly-looking game does hide some darker themes, so please take care while playing!

Lets talk about the story. From the first few minutes of the game, you learn that you are playing as a child prodigy that's trying to test parallel universe theories on his computer and is successful with it, though due to some unforeseen effects of testing the code he then starts to teleport between universes. Swapping universes was what initially hooked me on playing the game, so I was excited to see what all I would be exploring! However, we learn pretty quickly that some of these universes are not kind, as seen by the skeletons and the dilapidated environments. The game centers around solving puzzles by moving between these universes, at least on the surface. As you move through the chapters we learn more about our MC's travel companion Everett, and about the group that is following his whereabouts. The further into the game you go, the more secrets you unravel, and they might not all be good ones. Of course, the game description does mention that the game does explore the idea of a darker side to humanity. As much as I love this game for everything it offers, please be safe and careful while playing because of the warnings the game already has and because it does deal with heavier topics in the game itself.

This game is based heavily on puzzle-solving to progress in the story, and I loved both the simplicity and the complexity of them. Every chapter divulges in a different way to solve the puzzles, though they will incorporate puzzles from earlier chapters also. I particularly didn't find the puzzles difficult, though they do increase in complexity towards the end. They are not so difficult they are unsolvable, though they can take some time to finish.

The art and music of the game are both excellent. The music changed slightly for each of the worlds we visited, and fit the themes for those worlds perfectly! I also just have a soft spot for pixel games like this, and I loved how expressive and descriptive everything was even as pixel figures. Kudos to everyone that worked on this because it quite literally is a work of art!

This is absolutely something that I plan on playing again at some point because of how much I loved it, and an experience I am thankful to have. I would love to have more adventures of the Kid and Everett in the future, but the game is perfect as it is and is absolutely worth every penny.

Puzzles are rather boring and easy. Had some annoying bugs throughout my gameplay as well.
