one of the best. the combat, movement and level design are all extremely good. the occult/noir setting is very well done and it makes me wish there were a graphic novel set in the same universe.

I really enjoyed this game, a lot more than I was honestly expecting. Although a lot of people have compared it to Blood, I sort of disagree. This game is a lot easier and I mean a lot; even on the 2nd to hardest difficulty. In Blood you have to use weapons for certain situations, while in this game I found myself only really using the flamethrower for the harder enemies, and Dynamite/Mollies for groups. Not to mention the Dynamite in this game doesn't have the same skill factor like it does in Blood. Not to mention the gameplay is vastly different with more wide and open areas, although there are a few levels that are claustrophobic. This game I believe is uniquely its own thing, as it combines themes from Build Engine Games and elements from games like Resident Evil and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. But overall, it really is an enjoyable experience and is all around extremely fun to play and that is all that truly matters. I'm kind of disappointed I decided to play when Chapter 2 isn't out yet, because I am fiending for it.

Incredibly good game. Everything from the spritework, the music down to the gunplay and levels is absolutely phenomenal. It's baffling how something like this could have been made by one person. This is up there with the other "greats" of the boomer-shooter reemergence such as Dusk and Amid Evil, well, at least in my books! Gameplay is like someone mixed Brutal Doom with the aesthetics of Blood. Popping Cultist faces with the lever-action or sniper and watching their head give way to a fountain of blood is incredibly satisfying. There's just something about the enemies being sprites instead of 3D models that makes everything feel very crunchy, fast and responsive. 10/10. Hope we get more episodes!
