Booty.

The visuals, the story, the voice acting, the soundtrack, everything is stunning. Back in 2016, all my friends with PS4 used to talk a lot about this and I didn't understand the hype since I never owned a PlayStation. I get the hype now and every bit of it is justified.

The characters are written quite well and you get sufficient time with each of them in the story. The cut-scenes and animations are so good even for today's standards. This is probably the best application of motion-capture technology in a game I've seen, every facial expression and gesture feels very genuine and more like movie than a video game. The story-telling is quite amazing, you also get to play as a young Nate when he was in the orphanage, which does give a bit of backstory since we haven't played the first 3 games. We also get references to Nate's adventures in the previous games. The story pacing is in just the perfect spot, none of the sections or chapters felt neither rushed nor too slow and you get sufficient time to explore each location.

All the levels and locations are very beautifully crafted and felt mesmerising, I kept going into the photo mode every 5 minutes. The climbing and hanging mechanics are very well done and quite satisfying and enjoyable, especially the grappling hook. When you are hanging onto a thin tree branch over a 1000 feet drop into the thick forest, it really gives a sensation like no other. Sometimes they might seem a little bit unrealistic and breaking some laws of physics but in the end you won't play Uncharted for realism, would you? Even the mini puzzles in the game are fun to solve, sometimes when you're stuck, the characters do give a few hints. The stealth mechanics are quite good for a non-stealth game although I used to get my cover blown all the time even on the easiest difficulty.
Talking about the level design, I felt it's quite straightforward, I never felt like I was lost or stuck. I've noticed this in many Sony games especially in Uncharted and God of War that the levels are designed in such a way that you'll automatically know what is your next objective or where you have to go, without the game explicitly telling you. This is a good way to make sure you also explore the level and that there's no extensive hand-holding by the game which might ruin immersion. Also there's basically no hud in the game except when you switch weapons or open your journal, so it all feels very cinematic while playing.

I've completed Uncharted 4 and only got a total of 7 achievements out of 101, I'll definitely play this (and The Lost Legacy) all over again and on different difficulties and try to explore what I missed.

I would highly recommend getting a controller for this game since it was originally made with that in mind, to me it felt way better to use and more fun than M&K.
It's a real shame the first 3 games aren't available on PC (except emulators which are a pain in the ass). I hope they port the Nathan Drake collection soon since a lot of their games have already been ported.
Also, the optimisation seemed quite great to me since it ran quite well on my potato GTX 1650 laptop.

PS: You also get to play crash bandicoot so that's a plus :)

Uncharted on Pc ! Never thought I'd see the day, yet here it is. Nathan Drake brings his mix of platforming, exploration, gunfights and puzzles to Steam, and even brings a friend along in Lost Legacy. Two gems in a bundle you don't want to miss if you have a taste for adventure !

Uncharted 4 was a beautiful game on Ps4, and it still looks gorgeous on Pc. You will need a decent computer to run the game on the highest settings, but the sights it offers are worth it. From the cloudy skies of Scotland to the sun shining on the red rocks of Madagascar, you'll be graced with vistas from all over the world that will make stop playing just to admire them. Maybe take a picture, even ! The same is true of the animations, detailed and always on point.
The gameplay is fluid as ever thanks to a few new additions, like the grappling hook, and some chase sequences feel incredible because of how smooth the transition from one phase to the next is. There are also a couple of open-world chapters, letting you explore more than usual and play at your own pace.
The story is a lot more grounded this time around. No more supernatural elements or enemies to fight, no crazy curse to lift, but a more serious and personal take on the relationships between Nate and whoever he is with at the time. The exchanges can feel really tense, but this goes to show how well the characters have been written as they all feel genuine, even Sam, slightly shoehorned in this last adventure.

A lot of attention was given to making the game as pleasant as possible, with many quality of life mechanics. Characters hint at where to go next, activate some mechanisms on their own, or even bring the boat/car when you stray too far. This feels great ! They won't solve the puzzles for you, but they will tell you when you're close and this can be all the motivation you need. Speaking of puzzles, they're fun. Varied and original, some will even require you to think !
This all makes for an exciting adventure, one that will let you play the "Will this next ledge break ?" game for about 15 hours before waving a final goodbye to Nate. You're then free to come back to play on a higher difficulty, experience the game with one of the many unlockable filters, find the treasures you missed, or just for Nate's company (chuckles) !

Wait ! Don't go ! There are two games in this bundle ! You also own The Lost Legacy, with Chloe Frazer as the hero.
The qualities of her journey are very similar to Nate's. The game looks great, the puzzles are smart, there's an open-world chapter that's even more open, and you can get a treasure detector to help you out. You'll see the evolution of the relationship between Chloe and Nadine over the course of 9 chapters in a shorter but sweet adventure worthy of the Uncharted series.

Now if you didn't like the series before, these won't change your mind, and we could talk about a few minor issues. The usual Uncharted bugs are there, where you sometimes don't grab ledges you should have. Maybe dodging and getting to cover should have been a different button. Or the fact that some encounters in Crushing difficulty feel quite unfair, but this is mitigated by the numerous checkpoints, making the rest of the game pretty easy. But this is Uncharted. You play Uncharted for the adventure, not the challenge.

Safe to say, this Legacy of Thieves collection is an exceptional experience that is absolutely worth playing. Whether you've been following Nathan Drake since his humble beginnings, or haven't seen his incredible luck in action yet, Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy are two convincing entries you won't want to miss.
Two gorgeous journeys that will take you around the world on a quest for more than treasure, in a more serious tone than usual, but with the same quips from Nate and the humor he's known for. A great adventure, and an 8.
