Awful. What a waste of 10 hours.

Oh ♥♥♥♥ this is so bad, characters are so ridiculous, that you feel disgusted just watching, but you are forced to interact. One more game making me want to stop achievement hunting, good that it can be put on mute and one of the guides made by nice people can be used to finish with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

genuinely horrible writing for a telltale borderlands collab

you know i really didnt expect Borderlands 3 to be better written than this
maybe equally as mid ,but no
i was so wrong
this feels so tone deaf, nothing in this feels like its from Borderlands
the best parts were Stapleface and L0u13 but those were basically gone within seconds
i cannot bring myself to play any further
i salute the 29% of players who sat through this

I'm mixed writing this review. I didn't buy it by itself, I got it from the Handsome Collection (which was like oddly dirt cheap when compared to normal price.) however when playing the game it's...just not what I was hoping for? I'm currently on Episode 3 and I know you can't judge something like halfway through but this game just doesn't feel like a Borderlands game? I'm not sure what it is but like I don't really feel like I'm in the universe.

Don't get me wrong, I had a few good 'surprisingly, I laughed' moments from the game and I was feeling motivated to give it a OK rating but I start to remember that the game's opening segment ruins one of my most favorite characters from the first game. Yea, I know that's not a original thing to say, but Rhys was a previous main character I was actively playing as and rooting for, and now seeing him as this out of character CEO just kinda...felt wrong.

Compared to the first, this is a major step down. I don't feel as engaged with playing, especially when I learned about the whole 'grindy' aspect to the game.

I full recommend this game, if you like the borderlands theme and visuals and don't mind the silly tid bits, it's a really solid game, as funny or weird as some of the relationships or character aspects they force are I still really enjoy certain aspects like I feel they did Lorelei's character a little justice and made her feel more human than she did in 3 (if you don't count echo logs). all in all if you're a heavy borderlands fan and you can look past how silly some things are, It's a really enjoyable story and the music selection was really fitting, overall 1 to 10 scale 9/10, basically perfect for me just a little too goofy sometimes. (also the amount of effort put into vaultlanders is awesome <3)

I really tried. I've been with Borderlands from the beginning. I get they've always leaned into a specific 'worldview', let's say, but it was subtle and character-consistent and didn't distract from the great quality of everything else. Now the writing in this series represents the very worst of lazy, woke, zoomer cringe. The shark has been jumped. The game is beautiful, graphics-wise, but the writing is just terrible. Simply terrible.
