Agony Online currently has 1,591+ wishlists on Steam. For an unknown game with zero advertising funds, this is surprisingly awesome! I put both hands in the air in cheer when I saw that number cuz I was expecting maybe 300-ish. ❤️

TEAM & WHATS UP
Our 4-man dev team are mostly beta-ready. AO is our dream priority, and we work when we have time to spare (we got jobs, lives, etc). The holdup is some final code to be completed by our head programmer. The man is a genius programmer by trade, but needs time to finish. When that part of the puzzle is added, we can launch beta.

1. AO can hold 65,535 max player connections in it's open world, 10K in Battle Royale mode.

2. Hacks don't work because 99% of actions are server-sided. (AAA games fail at this somehow, its crazy).

3. AO brings a nostalgic feeling of gaming with modern systems from simpler times. So you won't need to consult a damn wiki database just to know how to play the game (You can't play most modern MMOs without a wiki).

4. We had backlash from a couple people, one being an emotional 1M sub game review youtuber, about our speech policy from our previous "Community Rules; less is better" steam announcement, demanding we ban & censor customers if they say no-no words or commit thought-crimes that are offensive to other's sensitive feelings. We are making it clear that we will never bend the knee to the 1%. I'll repeat our rule on this so its clear. If you don't like what someone in AO says, we have a block/mute feature at your disposal, use it. Don't weaponize our report ticket system cuz feelings. We'll only take action against child endangerment & terroristic threats - also if someone is a special community nuisance, we have a jail system too. If you want social justice, get ur friends together ingame, hunt down, and cut off their head like we did in the early 2000s. Nostalgia! 🤣

Alright folks, an update on our current EXCELLENT state.

#1. WE MADE HUGE GAINS!
We have acquired the necessary encryption for AO to protect our licensed assets. Big thanks to @Founder for funding part of it. Professional programmers ain't cheap. With that monumental task out of the way, we just need to take a few more steps to join-beta.


#2. WE GOT GREAT IDEAS FROM SEEING OTHER GAME'S FAILURES
We have a whole private dev channel setup in here where we post systems/code examples of how to make the game better than others and avoid failures we've seen over the years. Here's our last idea from yesterday. Its already coded and done.

Gathering Objects
We won't use custom objects for gathering, instead, we will apply the same commonly-seen object as a gatherable material. Gatherable objects spawn in random locations which prevent cheating; standing in a spot afk with a clicker script
Example:
Rocks are everywhere, but if you see a rock with a glowing effect on it, then it is a gatherable object. This also goes for trees with a little glow at the bottom, etc.


#3. WHAT ARE THE RULES OF THE GAME??
It seems that in ALL games (in recent years), the end-game "meta" is getting banned for some stupid shit like Hate Speech or Abusive Language. I recently tried out Amazon's "New World" to gather more ideas and learn from failures, and a MAX LEVEL guy got permanently banned for calling someone a "Bitch"... Its really nothing, and instead of just ignoring the player, the user weaponized the support system to ban the other player. We have a block/mute system for players to manage who they can see chat from.

I think most people will really appreciate this about AO.
If someone annoys you, we have a block feature. The only thing we'd take bannable action on is something crazy like child endangerment or actual terrorism.

We do have a system setup for people literally doing everything possible trying get banned. Instead of banning, we have an in-game Jail where psychos can eventually come out days/weeks/months after cooling off.
