Do this game have something like rebirth, or is it just "one go" to get to level 5k+?

Cooldown reduction from optimism seems to require game restart. I had to restart the game after few hours of playing and was surprised to see huge animation speed increase. On leveling Optimism from 2 to 3 it became noticable that something is wrong because progress bars became slower again, the same as they were before I restarted the game once (forgot to check actual autofire animations). Initially it was no sounds at all, but closing/reopening got me some SFX. Since there's a music volume and a purchasable soundtrack, I'm assuming I'm still missing something. Any suggestions?
