This game has one very big issue, and it's the map design. I've been thrown into classic maps, more times than I can count, that has absolutely no cover whatsoever. And half the time the cover is completely useless cause a tree or rock spawned in front of it blocking the sight line. Not to mention it feels like the game has it out for me with the RNG. Classic is way, WAY, to slow. You will get overwhelmed easily because you simply do not get enough points to counter the insane amount of troops the Germans have. Try to play defensive and play in the back of the map, hardly moving?The Germans will eventually just straight up over power you with their numbers. Try to play aggressive and push forward? Then your troops are spread too thin and become easy pickings. You can use an engineer and make bunkers to help you move forward, but this is cursed with the same issue that you just don't get enough points fast enough to build up any kind of defense. Once their built, the Germans will do one of their BS blitz moves, where it spawns like 8 German soldiers straight up, and you're screwed, there's literally no way to counter it because again you just don't get the points. Not to mention the absolute worst thing that is in the game is how the Germans use smoke grenades to call in air strikes and they never miss, and they cost nothing, they can do it at anytime and it completely breaks the game. They throw the smoke grenades right on my men every. single. time. And I just get completely wiped right after. I just cannot compete with the awful map design and RNG that feels like it's always against me.

And please for the love of god let me scroll through the map with a mouse wheel, and not A and D, it is so clunky and slow. This game could easily be controlled with just the mouse, but for some reason the devs don't want to do that.

Do I recommend this game? Ehhhhh I haven't even came close to beating it yet, but it can be fun when it feels fair and works. That I can recommend. But I don't see how anybody can enjoy it when it's constantly just getting rushed the entire game and nothing seems to be going your way. Once you screw up, in the slightest, you will lose the game.

So I hope this helps with your purchasing decision.

Can't recomend for normal gamers who want a defense game. Played the flash forever (and still do thanks to Flashpoint) but the classic mode here is so ridiculously biased in the axis favor, its ridiculous. Not just you having limited resources vs the enemy having whatever they feel like, be it 40 tanks and 400 arty rounds by wave 20 vs your 6 soldiers/vehicles (because camo nets are about as durable as wet paper bags in a blender) but also the actual units' power. Most mechanics in the game are geared heavily towards punishing you while not affecting the german troops nearly the same (fire being a prime example. Not sure when US troops started bathing in gasoline to be able to burst into flames 5-6ft away from a bush that is on fire). The game has promise, but there are some balance changes needed to be 'difficult but unfair' while still being fun for most.

That being said, the game does have some great moments. But the kicking you will repeatedly receive on the regular doesn't nearly make up for it.

This game is a classic. I used to play the classic flash game ?15+ years ago on Kongregate and it was one of the best flash games at all times. I'm so glad I found it remade on Steam. It's still great! give it a try if you are a fan of roguelites, this is one of the original ones before it became a genre
