With enough range boosting equipment, you can add 50% range to most marines. You can find sensor belts with +4, Paldrones of +2, and maybe more (sometimes helmets too?). If you start with short range like 6 or 8, +6 practically doubles your range, and actually makes your weapons USEFUL, esp. Devastator (rocket man). But if you pile on the range mods onto, say, sniper, you can reach... range 18, which is a lot, esp. if you use Command guy to run forward to scout, then teleport back after 2 shots are taken...
