At first, I waited patiently, thinking that the current company would fix their problems and improve on FUNDAMENTAL problems, but they have not, and now I guess Steam won't refund me for waiting so long to trust in decent improvements and updates/fixes. The whole reason why I bought the game here at Steam, as apposed to the original copies of the game I already have, was in thought that they would actually decently do a better job on improving the great game and iron out bugs from the original game, that came from it's period of it's inception.
However it's brought a far worse game-play with new methods of game-play and there are even more bugs!!
Bugs like my navy of 6 ships just disappearing and not being registered on my military overseer, to other distribution problems in the city.

But what really leads to disgust is key downgrades to game-play, that just destroys all mild fun of the game. While understanding that the game is not heavily focused on war, there was some care and strategy in being able to maneuver your troops around and pin them to places of battle. Now it's a pure numbers calculator instant transaction, no thinking, no smart placing that can prevent damage in the city. Heaven knows what walls and towers are for , because the mathematical calculation of the "fight" ,.takes place in "another reality." And then there is just random destruction all over the city, just to give you damage and things to go and rebuild all over the city , whether it be this side or that side of a huge river. ALso Police and military before could to a degree assist in wild animal killing, to protect your cities and it's residences, now this just another cheap muted feature removed. Yes , minimally expecting, the graphics have updated to definition of this century , but no extra changes or spectacular beauty improvements or new creativity, ..just a pure , same graphics , definition upgrade. Clicking on bazaar people don't tell us what they collecting or carrying anymore. This is just a few of the spits in our faces this company is doing to us in this game, and I waited for more than a year to see if they care to improve on this paid game. Honestly, I would prefer playing the old version of the game with it's cute graphics and fewer technical bugs, but way better enjoyable game-play. (That they could have kept exactly the same ,just like all the buildings and graphics that they just easily copied over from the first game)

Fantastic Remake of the classic

I remember picking up Zeus+Poseidon at a Walmart for 10 dollars in a jewel case when I was a kid, and that set in me a deep love for the Impression Games historical city builders going so far as getting Caesar 3, Pharaoh+Cleopatra, and Emperor off of ebay. I had to set up my first paypal account to do it, and begged my mom to let me use her credit card to do so.

So is the Pharaoh remake worth playing? I think so, with some caveats. The military is much different, much to some fans' dislike. To me I don't mind it, I always favored the economy missions more in the original. The art style I think is fantastic, outside of the walkers looking like a mobile game. But the buildings themselves are amazingly done.

It has some new features too, most of all my favorite being the option to enable a Global Worker Pool. That was one of the biggest differences between Caesar 3 and Pharaoh and later Zeus and Emperor.. In Caesar 3 and Pharaoh, walkers had to pass by houses to get workers needing you to set up smaller housing districts near work buildings. In Zeus and Emperor this was changed to pull workers from the entire map, which admittedly makes the gameplay somewhat easier. It's a nice change imo though if you want to enable it.

There's also some bugs that haven't been fixed, so buyer beware on that one.
