Having trouble with the Crab Boss?

Cool boss but between the projectiles shooting this way and that, The Slug splitting up, it's hard to see what is going on... Any suggestions? :) I guess worst cast scenario I can turn on Assist Mode. Can that be toggled on and off?

Any clues on how to get ending 2?

So I've completed this game (loved it by the way) but I've only gotten ending 1 and 3 (ending 3 made me legit cry). I'm curious how to get ending 2, (which I have to assume is called the grey ending) My theory is I have to go through the game without collecting the white orbs, but I don't want to do that if it's not really how it's accomplished. Any input would be helpful and greatly appreciated....
