Introducing the Tier 2 Crane - Coming in Our First Major Update!

We recently unveiled the new Tier 3 ships that are planned to be released with the first major update, and many players have shown keen interest in being able to operate cranes directly on their vessels.

We are pleased to announce that we will be meeting this demand with the introduction of the new Tier 2 Crane. This crane is designed to handle not only medium cargo but also the new large cargo types, making it the perfect tool for the more demanding tasks that come with larger ships.

Rigged on both the Tier 3 Cargo and Fishing Ship, the Tier 2 Crane is essential for those looking to enhance their operational efficiency and tackle bigger challenges. As we prepare for the first major update, this powerful crane will play a key role in making your fleet more versatile and capable, perfectly complementing the increased capacity of the Tier 3 ships. Get ready to elevate your maritime experience with the Tier 2 Crane!

As we gear up for the first major update, which introduces the highly anticipated Tier 2 Crane and Tier 3 Ships, we’re also hard at work preparing a minor update that will roll out before then. This upcoming update will include the co-op/company feature—an exciting new addition that will allow players to collaborate in new ways. You’ll be able to work together on the same boat, operate individually on separate boats, or even form rival companies and compete against one another.

Furthermore, the option to adjust wave height in both normal weather and storm conditions in the in-game settings. This feature will offer enhanced control over the sea’s behavior, allowing for a more customizable and immersive experience. Whether you prefer calm waters or towering waves during the storm, this setting will let you tailor the ocean conditions to match your desired level of challenge.

We are pleased to announce an exciting new addition to Ships At Sea: a stunning Tier 3 cargo ship from our latest license partner, Macduff Ship Design. This new vessel showcases Macduff's signature craftsmanship, and we are thrilled to introduce it to our community as part of our major update planned for November.

Unveiling the Big One - Introducing the Tier 3 Fishing Vessel!

We are excited to give you a glimpse of what´s coming in our November update - the Tier 3 Fishing Vessel, a true classic from the 1950s! This impressive vessel is approximately 19 meters long and is ideal for those who are ready to take their fishing experience to the next level.

But that’s not all—along with this vessel, we’re introducing a brand-new fishing method to the game: Purse Seining. Known for its efficiency and effectiveness in catching large schools of fish, purse seining will be a valuable rigging in your fishing arsenal. Whether you’re targeting mackerel or the new fish species, herring, we are introducing, this technique is sure to bring in impressive hauls.

In addition to purse seining, you can rig her for longlining. We’re also introducing a new longline hauler, from our license partner Lorentzen Hydraulikk, which will make your longlining process smoother and more efficient than ever before.

To unlock this powerful vessel, you’ll need to obtain the Senior Certificate. Once you have it, the seas are yours to command with this vintage workhorse. Whether you’re a seasoned fisherman or looking to expand your fleet with friends in co-op, the tier 3 fishing vessel offers the perfect blend of nostalgia and modern fishing capabilities.

First look at the Tier 3 vessels in the upcoming November 2024 major update!

Greetings, Navigators!

We are excited to announce that in addition to the co-op/company feature, we are already working on designing the highly anticipated tier 3 vessels for Ships At Sea! These advanced vessels will be a part of our first major update, scheduled for November 2024. This update will bring new features and challenges to elevate your gaming experience. Furthermore, it will introduce a new license partner, a multi-award-winning naval architecture from Scotland. We proudly feature one of their ships in this upcoming major update.

Today, we're excited to reveal the Work In Progress - Tier 3 Service Vessel, a catamaran that measures approximately 27 meters in length. One of this boat's key gameplay features will be maintaining and servicing lighthouses or transporting passengers. These elements add a unique and engaging aspect to your maritime adventures.

The service boat is a tri-deck vessel, offering plenty to explore. It is equipped with a 951 HP engine and can reach a maximum speed of around 30 knots with the default engine. This vessel is designed to handle the toughest of seas while providing essential services.

We're dedicated to bringing you the most immersive and enjoyable experiences on the high seas, and we can't wait for you to get your hands on this incredible new addition.

Co-Op Company

Ahoy, Mariners!

As you all know, the co-op feature was planned for Ships At Sea from the start. We’ve been thinking about how to make the co-op experience more engaging for you, and we've decided that the best way to do this is to allow players to come together with their friends to set up and lead a company in a multiplayer session. Imagine setting up a company, inviting your friends to join, navigating the seas together on the same boat or each on their own, and completing missions and tasks as a team. We believe this will provide you with the ultimate co-op experience!

Setting up a company will also be possible in single-player mode, allowing solo players to enjoy the same depth of gameplay.

We'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this. Your input is invaluable as we strive to create the best gaming experience possible!

Patch - Release Notes Version 7.2.801

Ahoy, Sailors!

We are releasing the latest patch with fixes and improvements to enhance your maritime experience. This update includes balanced buoyancy, refined collision, and improved visualizations for longline ropes and the number of fish displayed when hauling a catch. Additionally, the SaveGame now stores game duration (time played) and longlines set in the ocean. We have also improved the behavior of the physical fish during longline hauling to ensure smoother and more enjoyable gameplay.

Roadmap

We've modified our roadmap, replacing the tier 4 Autoline ship with a crab ship due to overwhelming requests from our community. This adjustment aims to enhance your gaming experience based on your valuable feedback. We will of course keep you informed about the specific details of the crab ship. Storms

We have received your feedback about the storms and waves and understand that some players struggle to navigate their boats in the big waves. To address this, we are working on adding an option in the settings for players to customize their wave settings and implement a weather forecast. As a work around you can try and skip some hours using the clock in the wheelhouse.

Blocked entry to the shipyard if the player has cargo on the boat. This is just temporary as the cargo mission system undergoes rework. This rework is necessary to save cargo onboard the boat or enter the shipyard.

Fixed a bug where the player could not pick up a longline buoy after loading a save game
Fixed an issue where game slot details were showing outdated data for clients
Fixed the issue causing boat window materials to disappear when it's not raining

Savegame now stores game duration and longlines set in the ocean. Please note that saving net gear set in the ocean will be available soon, as we are currently enhancing the net fishing mechanic.

Ahoy, sailors!

This is a small update to some of the boats to improve their behavior in rough seas.

Driving a boat at full speed during bad weather is dangerous due to our realistic buoyancy system, which shows how boats behave in rough conditions. High speeds make boats unstable and hard to control in turbulent waters, increasing the risk of capsizing or swamping. Waves and strong winds can lift and toss the boat, similar to how objects lose stability in turbulent fluids. Slower speeds improve maneuverability and control, allowing safer navigation through rough seas. Therefore, reducing speed during bad weather is crucial for safety and stability.

Patch - Release Notes Version 0.7.2.782

The new patch brings general improvements, fixes, and the long-awaited storms in Ships At Sea! We've added a new system to ensure calm seas around the ports, allowing us to re-enable the storms you've been eagerly awaiting.

Among other things, this update focuses on the clean-up trash mission, making it easier to place trash bags on the work deck after collecting them from the sea and we also increased the pick-up range of the bags for a smoother mission experience. Additionally, we've added anchor icons to the map to indicate docking locations.

Storms Enabled

Introducing the first version featuring calm seas around harbors and shallow areas, allowing us to reactivate storms, and increasing wave heights on the open ocean. We hope you enjoy this exciting new dimension of the game and the enhanced maritime challenges it brings!

Wave heights reaching 12-14 meters in the open sea, with no calm waters during the storm.
Storm occurs between 7 - 14 days in-game time
Storm intensity increased to Beaufort 9-12. Regular weather now ranges from Beaufort 1-6, with occasional conditions reaching Beaufort 7-9, though lower intensities are more common.
