This is a very hard game to rate. It is solid as a game they are going for, but the problem is if it is worth recommending.

First of all, I'm not sure why fair number of reviews are comparing this game with X-COM, its never meant to be like X-COM. This game is more traditional tactical RPGs, in the vein of Tactics Ogre, FFT, Banner Lords, etc. So, if you are expecting X-COM like game, this probably won't be the game for you. On the other hand, if you want to play traditional tactical RPG with some twists, this might be for you.

With that out of the way, is the game good? Honestly, I am very conflicted. It does everything well. Graphics are pretty good for this genre but it doesn't seem to look as good as it should be, the dark atmosphere and tone is good but are under utilized, story has interesting setting but somehow kind of generic, and combat has interesting mechanics and skills but seem to lack the charm, for lack of a better term.
The game just feels to lack its own unique identity and gets kind of repetitive. You do get stronger and you can do cool things but not as intresting as say FFT but not as hard core as Battle Brothers. It's not to say the game is bad but feels safe and mediocre.
That goes for story as well. It has dark and sinister undertone but it mostly plays safe and kind of superficial. You kind a see the "twist" miles away. Characters doesn't really have personality so they might as well be just characters you can create.
The alignment/karma system is half baked and isn't impactful enough to really change your game play other than some characters getting unlocked/locked.
These all sound negative but it's more like points I wish it improved upon.

In the end, I can recommend it for those that love King Arthur and try new traditional tactical RPGs. But again, I would recommend other classics in the genre if you haven't played them. If you have played them, just play them again if you haven't played them in years.
It's truly a "meh" game.

This is one of the best turn base tactical games i have played, the end game is one of the best, your character's progress really well and become extremely powerful. Really liked that the characters you have that you don't put in party can still gain exp in the training grounds. To the players who have less than 10 hours and give this game bad reviews, is just really shallow to me. i played every map location and quest in the game , when i had finished the game and seen my hours played i was like wow. You all should play this game.

Loved the Anti Hero story line. It is sort of Xcom style but the only strategy is position and timing. Some units have stealth characteristics but no stealth mechanics for the environment. The game itself is fun but repetitive but that makes it relaxing to play. I would love to see a tv series on this game.
