STS is vastly less interesting and rewarding than this game

Is there any consensus among the community? I'm still fairly new and haven't tried all the combos yet, but the one that has stood out for me so far was Stygian / Melting. It feels like you really lack any damage or sustain until several floors in.

both of these damage types are really strong, but the Divinity just counters them by being able to just remove all the stacks every turn. this means, if you lean into ti, you feel powerful all the way, only to ultimately lose to Dviinity. this seems like bad design, to just make the end boss completely nullify an entire playstyle. in effect, reap and frostbite builds are not viable....
