Narita Boy is a very charming game with an immaculate aesthetic.

The surface of the story is nice and all but the dialogue in the game really gives TMI, personally after 2-3 hours I got tired of reading walls of text and I started reading through the lines mostly to save my time and sanity, the controls feel kinda bad, yes you get used to it but it might get a tad bit frustrating especially on platforming sections and areas with a lot of enemies since your character won't really listen to your inputs and will cause you to get a lot of damage in the process, there's also like an animation for some of your skills that lock you into place, leaving you vulnerable which felt really bad at times.

Narita Boy is not the most polished experience you'll have but for the aesthetic, the amazing soundtrack it has and the content it offers for its price I think it's worth your time.

The Universe is Fractal... as above so below... if you don't "get" Narita Boy, then you're an NPC, not a User!

Brings me back to the days of Duck-tales and Sonic from Sega just from the visuals. I did enjoy the combat, but the controls were not to my liking. I would have changed a few things. Also the dodge mechanic can be 'dodgy' Sometimes you go through enemies, sometimes you take a hit. The checkpoint system is very forgiving and no achievements for not dying (thank god).

As for the story, I liked it. Conflict of two worlds. Internal demons. The struggle of being an immigrant in a new country is very compelling. Is the hidden memory worth it? Probably not. Can you 100% this game without trying. HELL YEAH!

If you like platforms with a bit of hack and slash, I'd say this game is for you. Just remember to get all the items in the level before you leave, cause there is no going back to collect what you missed if you do.
