Does anybody know how to unlock the other classes which doesnt have an explanation on how to unlock them?

Can someone explain the plant growth and fire spreading mechanisms to me? I get that there are 4 stats per tile (fire, plant, soil humidity, water, height). Water makes sense to me and so does height. The other 3 are deeply mysterious. Plant looks to be maxed out at 9 whether it's a dense shrub that halts movement or a tiny bit of grass. That small grass spontaneously becomes a big shrub, but when/how quickly? Actions that spread plants sometimes do something, sometimes don't. Fire arrows sometimes start ...

I see with a mouse that if I hover over elements in the UI (such as the elemental bar on the lower left that explains fire and soil moisture, etc.) that I get an explanation of those elements. Is it possible to see these contextual clues using only a controller? If so, how? EDIT: Playing through a few more battles ... it looks like this game should be rated "Partial controller support" because I constantly have to get on the mouse to hover over basic UI elements on the battlefield.
