Hello guys, it's Deco with another old school unit.

By popular demand, I present to you the Gargoyles for the Vampire Counts, Von Carstein and Mousillon factions. This is of course based on the Gargoyle I made for the Warriors of Chaos, but instead of just transferring the unit, I decided to experiment a bit with it.

These are stone statues of monsters brought to life through dark magic. Attacking in swarms, clawing and biting their prey, these beasts are truly fearsome. You can recruit them by building the Vampire Lair.

+ High melee defence and high resistance to all but magical attacks
+ Vanguard deployment and immunity to psychology and fatigue
+ Very fast infantry with high charge bonus, can be used for flanking
+ Special ability that lowers the morale of enemies
- High recruitment cost and upkeep
- Slaughter infantry, but get demolished by heavy cav

Ideas for balancing are always welcome.

COMPATIBILITY
-It should be compatible with everything as it's just a units mod.

I had added it in a compilation with all my HeroQuest units, but the moderators took it down due to copyright issues. I may try to release only the Gargoyles in the future.

Yeah, after I made it for the WoC, people kept asking for a Vampire Counts version, so here it is! Though I made it a bit different, I made the Gargoyles smaller in size, faster and with vanguard, so they have a different role.

Oh! There it was! I thought I had seen a Gargoyle mod for the VC already, and that's why I mentioned that Gargoyles would fit the VC in the comments section of your WoC Gargoyles mod.

Hmm, it could be that this mod changes some unit groups, I'm not sure. Actually, I have moved on to WH2 now and don't plan to return to WH1 again.

kk cherrs for checking, just in case anyone else has had this issue, when using Ancient Vampire Tec mod they did'nt seem to gain from those tec's. but dif mods have dif effects so not trying to lay any blame on your mod.

So, I checked the groups. The Gargoyles gain every tech that also affects Dire Wolves, Fell Bats, Vargheists and Varghulfs.

I also have a single Gargoyle unit mod that is pretty much like you describe below. Slow and hard-hitting. You may want to try it. It's for the Warriors of Chaos faction though.

As for a SFO version, feel free to edit the stats and release it as you wish. Just provide a link to my mod in your description as credit :)
