100 % achievements guide

This is a guide that tells you how to get every achievement in the game. There are two guides in one: One to get everything in a single run, all the way from Things Betwixt to Drangleic Castle in NG++. The other guide is simply listing all achievements and telling you what to do and how to get them.

But the question remains: What do you want, truly?
So you are this fella who doesn't remember anything about one's past, just his or her name. Even your gender can be a confusing matter if you decide to explore Things Betwixt a bit further.
And then, out of nowhere, this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ arboreal dude comes out of nowhere and keeps asking you what do you want, truly.
There is no path? "Such is our fate?" ♥♥♥♥♥ I already know what I want...

"I WANT TO DO VERY SPECIFIC THINGS TO GET OTHER VERY SPECIFIC THINGS"
"why can't you just go ahead and get everything"
"BECAUSE I WANT THOSE VERY SPECIFIC THINGS"
"but you don't even have the skill to use th-"

Introduction
This guide has all the information needed to get all the achievements in Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin.

There are two guides in one guide: One to get all achievements with a single character, and then some sections for those who want a smaller piece of information that they need, such as a location of a single spell.

To get all achievements, you need to:
  • Clear the game (duh) (also I hope you've done this already)
  • Find all covenants
  • Finish some NPCs' storylines
  • Spend some souls to some NPCs
  • Get all gestures
  • Get all possible NPCs to Majula
  • Get all sorceries
  • Get all miracles
  • Get all pyromancies
  • Get all hexes
  • Get to Drangleic Castle in NG++

It may sound like a lot, but even with this much you're still able to skip content. In other words, in this guide I'll be telling you exactly what to do to get all achievements, but anything other than that I'll be leaving out, so don't take this as a guide to all secrets in the game.

You may need to have some specific stats to get all NPCs talk and give stuff to you. Mainly Straid of Olaphis and Carhillion of the Fold. If you want to finish Royal Sorcerer Navlaan's quest without killing anyone, you'll need 20 INT and 20 FTH to get Sunset Staff from Felkin the Outcast. But thanks to Soul Vessels, you can do all this in any order you want and you can immediately go back to your previous stats without losing anything in the process.

I repeat: You can do this all in any order you want to. You can clear the game like normal and only after that start to go for the achievements. I've included the sections at the end of the guide with exactly that in mind. With that said, you can use an earlier character to do this; you can't really have ruined the game for yourself, and if you somehow manage to do something that makes you unable to get an achievement, you still have NG+ and NG++.

All of the information here can also be found in the wikis and YouTube videos. I link to videos if I notice I'm crap at explaining things. This guide is to just have everything an achievement-seeker needs in one guide. Hurrah for convenience!
The relevant achievements
These are all the achievements in the game, both visible and hidden.

To answer the question that many people had when upgrading from vanilla to Scholar of the First Sin: Yes, you do need the DLC sorceries, miracles, hexes and pyromancies to get the respective achievements.

These are the achievements that we'll be focusing on in this guide. The rest of the achievements are ones you almost surely have. Almost, as in if you skipped the primal bonfires with 1,000,000 Soul Memory and went to Drangleic Castle without defeating any of the Great Ones.

Now here's the real deal: the guide which tells you what to do to catch 'em all.
I'll cover the game area-by-area and tell you what to do in each of them and for what purpose.

Are you ready? Then here we go.
Things Betwixt & Majula
Things Betwixt

This is where your journey starts, y'know? Unfortunately there's nothing here in regard to achievements, even in later stages of the game.

As said previously, class doesn't matter - unless you're Bandit, in which case you need to level your INT up to 3 to be able to talk to Straid. Other than that you're all free to do whatever kind of a character you want.

Majula

Talk to Saulden the Crestfallen Warrior and exhaust his dialogue until he offers you to join to the Way of Blue.
Covenant of the Meek achieved!

Learn the Welcome gesture from Saulden.
Gesture Maestro progress: 1/12

When going towards the room with the two paths leading to Heide's Tower of Flame and Huntsman's Copse, take the right path before going down the stairs. Examine the statue, choose Enter Covenant and say yes to the two first questions.
Covenant of the Fittest achieved!

Make your way towards Forest of the Fallen Giants.
Forest of the Fallen Giants
In the second bonfire, exhaust Merchant Hag Melentia's dialogue. Buy Soul Arrow from her if you didn't start as a Sorcerer, and Heal if you didn't start as a Cleric.
Master of Sorcery progress: 1/31
Master of Miracles progress: 1/28

After the second bonfire, go to the tree bridge after the fog and jump down to the area with several mobs. Find Cale the Cartographer and exhaust his dialogue. Receive House Key. (Note: You'll have to kill the skeleton in the Majula mansion to have him appear there!)

Go through the hole in the wall before Pate. Clear the area and receive Great Soul Arrow from one of the corpses in front of the ballistae.
Master of Sorcery progress: 2/31

Go through the gate past Pate and clear the area. Go back to talk to Pate. Receive White Soapstone.

Defeat Last Giant. Melentia and Cale should now appear in Majula.
Curious Map progress: 1/8

Go back to Majula to check that Melentia and Cale are there. If you haven't done so, open the door to the Majula mansion and defeat the skeleton there to have Cale appear.
Gathering of Exiles progress: 2/7

Defeat The Pursuer. Go to the Lost Bastille, light the bonfire and take the Dull Ember from one of the metal chests in there. Warp back to Majula.

Make your way towards Heide's Tower of Flame.
Heide's Tower of Flame
You should try going for Old Dragonslayer first. When you defeat Dragonrider, all the Heide knights in the area will become hostile and it'll become a pain to get to the Old Dragonslayer.

Defeat Old Dragonslayer. If you have a Token of Fidelity from successfully co-opping as a white phantom or from a corpse in Huntsman's Copse, talk to Blue Sentinel Targray and have him offer to join the Blue Sentinels covenant to get the achievement. If you have no Token of Fidelity in your inventory (which is most likely at this point of the game), he will simply tell you to leave. Light up the bonfire there and come back later.

Defeat Dragonrider. Exhaust Licia of Lindeldt's dialogue. Go back to Majula to check that she's there. (Note: there will be a side quest late into the game where you have to kill her. Outside of this quest, DO NOT KILL LICIA OF LINDELDT UNTIL YOU GET CRUSHED EYE ORB. She will not drop Soothing Sunlight, which means you'll have to do the side quest in NG+.)

Buy the following miracles from Licia of Lindeldt:
  • Caressing Prayer
  • Force
  • Heal (if you didn't buy it from Merchant Hag Melentia)
  • Great Heal Excerpt
  • Guidance
  • Homeward
  • Med Heal
  • Replenishment
  • (Resplendent Life) (you can get this from Lost Bastille as a treasure in NG+)
Master of Miracles progress: 9/28

Warp to Majula to check that Licia is there.
Gathering of Exiles progress: 3/7

Make your way towards No-man's Wharf.
No-man's Wharf
From the open area with multiple hollow infantry both in and out of the two houses, go up the stairs. Turn left at the middle of the stairs, to where the dual scimitar Varangian and the dog came from. Go inside the house, up the stairs. Talk to Lucatiel of Mirrah and exhaust her dialogue.

On the ledge with multiple Dark Stalkers, examine the corpse hanging from the edge and get Emit Force.
Master of Miracles progress: 10/28

Talk to Carhillion of the Fold. You will need 8 INT for him to sell anything to you and for him to move to Majula. Buy the following sorceries from him:
  • Heavy Soul Arrow
  • Magic Weapon
  • Shockwave
  • Soul Spear Barrage
  • Yearn
The rest you can find as treasure in other areas.
Master of Sorcery progress: 7/31

In the hut with the two sleeping Varangians, outside of which two Suspicious Shadows ambush you, hit the wall next to the chest. Grab the Fragrant Branch of Yore from the opening.

On the bridge towards the boat and Flexile Sentry, summon Lucatiel of Mirrah. Fight Flexile Sentry with her. It's an easy fight and should pose no trouble for either of you, but remember, she has to survive the fight.
Lucatiel progress: 1/3

Open the metal chest next to the bell ringer mechanism after Flexile Sentry and get Pyromancy Flame + the Fireball pyromancy.
Master of Pyromancies progress: 1/24

Make your way towards Lost Bastille.
Lost Bastille, Belfry Luna & Sinner's Rise
Lost Bastille

Warp to Majula to check that Carhillion of the Fold has moved there.
Gathering of Exiles progress: 4/7

The Undead Jailer who kicks down the explosive barrel down the stairs won't kick the barrel after the first time, so if you want early access to McDuff, you can just rest in a bonfire and come back again, kill the Undead Jailer and kick the barrel down yourself. Doing it yourself won't make the barrel explode.

Talk to Lucatiel of Mirrah and exhaust her dialogue. Take the Fragrant Branch of Yore in the chest in her room.

Defeat Ruin Sentinels. There are four illusory walls in the boss room: One of them hides the Hush sorcery behind them.
Master of Sorcery progress: 8/31

Unpetrify Straid of Olaphis. We'll be using the boss souls for him later, but with Ruin Sentinel Soul you can get the Heavy Homing Soul Arrow sorcery. Buy the following from Straid:
  • Cast Light
  • Homing Soul Arrow
  • Resplendent Life (if you didn't buy it from Licia)
  • Unveil
  • Flame Swathe
  • Lingering Flame
  • Affinity
  • Dark Hail
  • Dark Orb
Master of Sorcery progress: 10/31
Master of Miracles progress: 11/28
Master of Pyromancy progress: 3/24
Master of Hexes progress: 3/23

Learn the Mock gesture from Straid.
Gesture Maestro progress: 2/12

Belfry Luna

Talk to the Belfry Guard until he offers to join the Bell Keepers covenant.
Clangorous Covenant achieved!

Note: At this point you can already rank the Bell Keepers covenant to 2. If you're getting a decent amount of summons, you might want to get the Agape Ring from Straid. You need 30 wins as a Bell Keeper to get to rank 2, after which when you talk to the bell keeper who lets you join the covenant, you'll receive the Hidden Weapon sorcery.

However, if you're the kind who doesn't enjoy PvP, you can farm this covenant offline, too. It'll feel more tedious, but you can farm the Mad Warrior in Belfry Sol to rank up. More on that once we get there.

Other than that there's nothing else of interest in Belfry Luna.

Sinner's Rise

At the bottom of the elevator pit, summon Lucatiel of Mirrah. Lost Sinner dishes out a decent amount of damage on Lucatiel, so it might be wise to clear the area out of mobs beforehand. Additionally the Redeye Ring from Sweet Shalquoir in Majula can help you keep the Lost Sinner's aggro on you. This is all irrelevant if you do enough DPS as you are, though.

Defeat Lost Sinner with Lucatiel and take the Fragrant Branch of Yore from the metal chest. Other than that there's nothing of interest, so light the primal bonfire and pat yourself on the back for the first Great One defeated. It'll be a long journey.
Lucatiel progress: 2/3
Curious Map progress: 2/8

From Majula, pay 2,000 souls to Licia of Lindeldt and make your way towards Hunstman's Copse. If you have yet to buy sorceries and miracles I mentioned earlier, now's a good time since you got a ton of souls from the Lost Sinner.
Huntsman's Copse & Undead Purgatory
Talk to Felkin the Outcast. He'll refuse to talk to you if your INT and FTH are below 8. Buy the following hexes from him:

  • Dark Orb (if you didn't buy it from Straid)
  • Dark Weapon
  • Resonant Flesh
  • Resonant Weapon
  • Magic Barrier
Master of Miracles progress: 12/28
Master of Hexes progress: 6/23

Before the second bonfire (although it's better to light it up first), from above the bonfire you can jump to the outcrop with a corpse on it. This corpse gives you a Token of Fidelity (and a Pharros' Lockstone), which you can use to gain access to the Blue Sentinels covenant if you haven't unlocked it already. With that said, go talk to Targray now if you haven't already, join the covenant, learn his Duel Bow gesture and buy the Heavenly Thunder miracle from him.
Protector Covenant achieved!
Gesture Maestro progress: 3/12
Master of Miracles progress: 13/28

When going towards the area with the lever that descends the bridge, check the rightmost cliff out. There's a building with a hole on top of it; jump down there, fight the Syan Knight and acquire Soul Spear from a corpse.
Master of Sorcery progress: 11/31

Get the key from the corpse in the area where Merciless Roenna invades at. Open the hut with Creighton the Wanderer inside. Learn the Fist Pump gesture from him.
Gesture Maestro progress: 4/12

Turn right from the boss fog gate towards the cave. Fight off the skeletons, kill the necromancer and get the Combustion pyromancy.
Master of Pyromancy progress: 4/24

Make your way towards Undead Purgatory and defeat Executioner's Chariot. To make Titchy Gren talk to you at all, you need a Token of Spite, which you can get from successfully invading an another player. There's one for free right before the Gutter, so you don't actually need to invade someone to get the achievement for the covenant. Just follow this guide like normal for now.

Defeat Skeleton Lords.

Make your way towards Harvest Valley.
Harvest Valley & Earthen Peak
Harvest Valley

Talk to Stone Trader Chloanne and exhaust her dialogue. She will move to Majula after this.
Gathering of Exiles progress: 5/7

Buy the following from her:
  • Soul Appease
  • Dead Again
Master of Miracles progress: 14/28
Master of Hexes progress: 7/23

Get the Fragrant Branch of Yore in the cave where Lonesome Gavlan is in if you spoke to him at No-man's Wharf.

Acquire Chameleon from one of the corpses in the second poison mist area.
Master of Sorcery progress: 12/31

Before entering Earthen Peak, take the path to the left. At the end of the path is a statue where you can join the Heirs of the Sun covenant, one of the three covenants you have to rank up in this run. Also learn the Praise the Sun gesture.
Brilliant Covenant achieved!
Gesture Maestro progress: 5/12

Earthen Peak

Go inside Earthen Peak and turn right immediately, dropping down to the area with lots of poison vases in it. Make your way past the Undead Steelworker and the Manikin into the poison pool path. You can find Lucatiel of Mirrah hiding there. Exhaust her dialogue.

Defeat Covetous Demon and... stay in Earthen Peak?

Behind the gate which a Manikin closes if you're not fast enough to kill him, there's a path to the left at the ledge. Follow it to find Laddersmith Gilligan hiding there. Exhaust his dialogue and learn the Prostration gesture.
Gesture Maestro progress: 6/12

There's a part in Earthen Peak where you can jump over a broken walkway to a platform with a Grave Warden on it, guarding a metal chest. Don't jump there, instead take a right turn at the incredibly impractical fence, break it and jump down. You know you're in the right place if there's a door at the ledge which leads to Mild Mannered Pate. Follow the ledge to a small, dead-end room with a metal chest inside. Open it and get a Great Heavy Soul Arrow from within.
Master of Sorcery progress: 13/31

From the same ledge, drop down from the other end, past the door. There's a metal chest there with a Lightning Spear in it.
Master of Miracles progress: 15/28

If the above explanations seemed confusing, here's a video where a guy shows their locations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzmMJ5vOBs4

Defeat Mytha, the Baneful Queen. Take the elevator towards Iron Keep.
Iron Keep & Belfry Sol
Iron Keep

Go to Majula to check if Gilligan appeared there. If you have the souls, you might as well buy the 12,000 soul ladder from him to get the achievement.
Gathering of Exiles progress: 6/7

In the room with the first fire-spewing minotaur statue, take the Iron Key from under the fire if you want to. You can take it later when the fire is off.

From Magerold of Lanafir, buy the following:
  • Heavy Soul Arrow (if you didn't buy it from Carhillion)
  • Fall Control
  • Dark Hail (if you didn't buy it from Straid)
  • Darkstorm
Master of Sorcery progress: 14/31
Master of Hexes progress: 8/23

Before the Smelter Demon boss fog, summon Lucatiel of Mirrah. Defeat Smelter Demon with her.
Lucatiel progress: 3/3

After the bridge with two Alonne knights and one Ironclad soldier smashing a part of the bridge, turn left. Open the door and use a Pharros' Lockstone on the mechanism to open a way to Belfry Sol and a bonfire.

Belfry Sol

Note: This is an another spot to rank up the Bell Keepers covenant. Additionally, here you can rank the covenant up even in offline. If you want to rank up the covenant online, do it now, because higher Soul Memory will yield to diminishing results of summons.

As for offline, when you are in the Bell Keepers covenant, Mad Warrior NPC black phantom will spawn inside the Belfry Sol. He spawns close to the first Greatsword phantom. The thing here is that he spawns infrequently; he may not always be there, even if you're in the Bell Keepers covenant. You simply have to go check his spawn point, kill him if he's there, then go back to rest to the bonfire and repeat until 30 wins. This will be tedious, but anything for the achievement, right?

I'm assuming you'll be ranking up to get the Hidden Weapon sorcery now. Hooray, now you can focus on Heirs of the Sun!
Master of Sorcery progress: 15/31

With that said, Smelter Demon is a good spot to rank up the Heirs of the Sun covenant, as people often have a tough time with him and thus will summon others to help. Other good spots are as follows:
  • The Duke's Dear Freja
  • The Rotten
  • Looking Glass Knight
  • Velstadt, Royal Aegis
  • Throne Watcher & Throne Defender, Nashandra, Aldia, Scholar of the First Sin
  • All the DLC bosses

Personally I prefer to co-op in many places, so I leave my sign wherever I go to. You're bound to get summons almost everywhere, but the bosses mentioned above are your best bets for getting them quicker.

Returning to Belfry Sol:

Go through the area and get Immolation from the metal chest at the end. Go back to Iron Keep.
Master of Pyromancy progress: 5/24

Iron Keep

Chaos Storm can be obtained from a metal chest at the end of a lava road in the area with droppable platforms, but at this point of the game you probably don't have enough of fire resistance to be able to get there. Later on it's definitely possible, though.

Defeat Old Iron King, light the primal bonfire and warp back to Majula. Now that you have souls, if you didn't buy the 12,000 soul ladder from Gilligan yet, do it now. This will grant you an achievement and a lot easier way to the Gutter.
Garrulous Miser achieved!
Curious Map progress: 3/8

Also, don't forget to get the Iron Key from the beginning! Now there's no more fire burning your face when you pick it up.

Move on to Shaded Woods.
Shaded Woods
Talk to Benhart of Jugo, exhaust his dialogue and learn the Joy gesture.
Gesture Maestro progress: 7/12

Unpetrify Rosabeth of Melfia. Give her gear to have her move to Majula.
Change of Clothes achieved!

Buy the following from her:
  • Fire Orb
  • Flash Sweat
  • Iron Flesh
  • Poison Mist
Master of Pyromancy progress: 9/24

Warp back to Majula from the first bonfire. If all has gone well, all required NPCs should now be in Majula and the achievement should pop up.
Gathering of Exiles achieved!

These are the required NPCs, in case anyone's wondering:
  • Merchant Hag Melentia
  • Cale the Cartographer
  • Licia of Lindeldt
  • Carhillion of the Fold
  • Stone Trader Chloanne
  • Laddersmith Gilligan
  • Rosabeth of Melfia
Back to Shaded Woods:

Talk to Vengarl. Exhaust his dialogue and get his helmet, which grants an achievement. Also learn the Decapitate gesture from him. Also, in case you haven't bought Magic Barrier from Felking yet, you can buy it from Vengarl, too.
Reflections on Disembodiment achieved!
Gesture Maestro progress: 8/12
Reminder: Master of Miracles progress: 15/28

From the third bonfire, go forwards until you enter the clear area. In front of you are two ruins right next to each other; enter the one to the left with a Lion Warrior petrified in front of a metal chest. Unpetrify this Lion Warrior, kill it and loot Repair from the chest.
Master of Sorcery progress: 16/31

Go past the two towers from where you can go to the boss of the area. Go past them until you are at a tree near a ledge. There's a hidden hole there which you can fall from. Drop down the hole, open the chest to get Homing Soulmass and talk to Darkdiver Grandahl until you've exhausted his dialogue.
Master of Sorcery progress: 17/31

Defeat Scorpioness Najka. You can use her boss soul to get Soul Shower.

Move on to Doors of Pharros.
Doors of Pharros & Brightstone Cove Tseldora
Doors of Pharros

Climb the first ladders in front of the two dog rats. Above is a corpse with the Twisted Barricade hex.
Master of Hexes progress: 9/23

Defeat Royal Rat Authority. You can use its soul to get Acid Surge from Straid.

Move on to Brightstone Cove Tseldora.

Brightstone Cove Tseldora

Summon Benhart of Jugo inside one of the tents near the first bonfire. Defeat Prowling Magus & Congregation with him.
Moonlight Greatsword progress: 1/3

Buy the following from Cromwell the Pardoner:
  • Perseverance
  • Caressing Prayer (if you didn't buy it from Licia)
  • Force (if you didn't buy it from Licia)
  • Heavenly Thunder (if you didn't buy it from Targray)
  • Replenishment (if you didn't buy it from Licia)
Master of Miracles progress: 16/28
If you saved Weaponsmith Ornifex, buy the following from her, if need be:
  • Homing Soul Arrow (if you didn't buy it from Straid)
  • Fall Control (if you didn't buy it from Magerold)
Reminder: Master of Sorcery progress: 17/31

Inside the room behind the double doors, there's a metal chest (and a parasite spider) behind some breakable shelves. Open it and claim Soul Vortex for yourself.
Master of Sorcery progress: 18/31

Defeat Duke's Dear Freja. Light the primal bonfire and enjoy the fact that you've only got one primal bonfire left. Before going to the pit in Majula, buy Ring of Whispers from Sweet Shalquoir and make your way to Manscorpion Tark near the third bonfire of Shaded Woods. Talk to him until you've exhausted his dialogue to learn the Warmup gesture and get some items, including a Fragrant Branch of Yore.
Gesture Maestro progress: 9/12
Curious Map progress: 4/8

Also, don't forget the locked door inside the room before the web-filled cave with Duke's Dear Freja's boss fog; with the key you pilfered from the hollowed duke, you can open it. Behind it is a metal chest with a Great Fireball inside.
Master of Pyromancy progress: 10/24

Make your way towards the pit of Majula and Grave of Saints.
Grave of Saints, The Gutter & Black Gulch
Grave of Saints

In the hallways there are multiple Pharros' contraptions. One of them is on the ground, facing towards a bridge held up. Put a Pharros' Lockstone in it and drop the bridge down. Inside the room you can find a Whisper of Despair on one corpse.
Master of Hexes progress: 10/23

Defeat Royal Rat Vanguard. With its soul you can get Toxic Mist pyromancy.

Talk to the Rat King until he offers a covenant with you.
Gnawing Covenant achieved!

Drop down the hole next to the Rat King until you're at the bottom with the multiple exploding Undead Prisoners. There's a corpse with a Great Heal miracle with him.
Master of Miracles progress: 17/28

Before entering the Gutter, there's a wooden chest with a Token of Spite in it. With it Titchy Gren allows you to join Brotherhood of Blood. Go lit the bonfire in the Gutter and go do that if you haven't already, and buy a Fire Whip from him while at it (you need to join Brotherhood of Blood for him to sell anything to you).
Sanguinary Covenant achieved!
Master of Pyromancy progress: 11/24

The Gutter

Go through the area like normal, nothing that helps us in our journey for all achievements. Save for the Dark Fog under the second bonfire with lots of hollows around.
Master of Hexes progress: 11/23

Black Gulch

Light up a torch and hug the ledge to the right until you see a very small cliff beneath. Keep your eyes peeled, it's easily missable. Drop down there and follow the cave until you find Lucatiel of Mirrah. Exhaust her dialogue.

At the first set of the tar pools, there's a cave at the left. Open the chest there and take the Great Magic Weapon sorcery.
Master of Sorcery progress: 19/31

Right after the first set of tar pools, in front of one of the two Razorback Nightcrawlers, is a vase with Scraps of Life inside it.
Master of Hexes progress: 12/23

Once again light up a torch and check out for cliffs around the two Razorback Nightcrawlers. Drop down there. You can't open the large door yet, so keep dropping down the cliffs under you enter a large cave with two Elite Giants in it. Defeat them and get a Soul of a Giant and the Forgotten Key. Make your way back to the large door above and open it with the new key and talk to Darkdiver Grandahl there. Don't use the Soul of a Giant, even if it tells you it's only for souls!

If you have yet to have defeated three bosses with Lucatiel, you need to unpetrify the mob at the end of the small path near the end of the ledge with the second set of tar pools. Behind him is a bonfire and Lucatiel's summon sign for the next boss fight.

Defeat The Rotten with or without Lucatiel. This is a tough fight to have Lucatiel survive since the Rotten deals good amount of damage to her and she tends to walk around the fire. Use Redeye Ring and kill it fast.

Light the primal bonfire and warp back to Majula. All primal bonfires lit! That's one milestone.
Curious Map progress: 5/8
Drangleic Castle
Before we enter Drangleic Castle, let's do a quick recap:

Master of Sorcery progress: 19/31
Master of Miracles progress: 17/28
Master of Pyromancy progress: 11/24
Master of Hexes progress: 12/23
Gesture Maestro progress: 8/12
Curious Map progress: 5/8

If you have souls, you might want to buy any remaining sorceries, miracles, pyromancies and hexes from the merchants met up to this point. Also there's still Steady Hand McDuff's achievement, so upgrade and/or infuse any weapons you have at his place until 14,000 souls are spent, then talk to him. That'll get you the achievement.

There are also still a bunch of other achievements left. Let's do this!

From the second bonfire at Shaded Woods, take the left path and make your way towards Drangleic Castle.

Drangleic Castle

Go to the right side of the main gates and open the metal chest there to get Great Combustion.
Master of Pyromancy progress: 12/24

Open the main gates and go talk to Chancellor Wellager. Learn his gesture This one's me.
Gesture Maestro progress: 10/12

From the first bonfire, aggro a stone soldier to the soul door at the far left corner of the room and open it with the soldier's soul. Kill the Ruin Sentinel behind it and drop down the hole at the end of the room. Down there, light the bonfire and talk to Darkdiver Grandahl to gain access to the Pilgrims of Dark covenant.
Abysmal Covenant achieved!

To get the Master of Hexes achievement, we'll need to get this covenant to rank 3. In other words we need to clear all three Dark Chasm of Old areas, two of which are accessible from where you previously found Grandahl at Black Gulch and Shaded Woods, and to defeat Darklurker. If you want to, you can clear them now but I'd advice doing it later, simply because the areas are tough and the boss is no pushover.

Buy the following from Grandahl:
  • Profound Still
  • Cast Light (if you didn't buy it from Straid)
  • Dark Orb (if you didn't buy it from Straid or Felkin)
  • Dark Hail (if you didn't buy it from Straid or Magerold)
  • Darkstorm (if you didn't buy it from Magerold)
Reminder: Master of Sorcery progress: 19/31
Master of Hexes progress: 13/23

Defeat Dragonriders.

Go up the long ladders at the tall room with the longest elevator ever. Activate the golem contraption and open the metal chests, one of which holds a Soul Greatsword.
Master of Sorcery progress: 20/31

In the hall with the Executioner's Chariot and the three old knights, open the metal chest to obtain Firestorm.
Master of Pyromancy progress: 13/24

In the room with the trapped third of the Milfanito, a metal chest holds Strong Magic Shield.
Master of Sorcery progress: 21/31

Summon Benhart of Jugo to fight alongside with you against Looking Glass Knight. Defeat Looking Glass Knight.
Moonlight Greatsword progress: 2/3

Before entering the elevator, there's a metal chest behind the small fences containing the Soul Bolt sorcery. Take that and then be off to Shrine of Amana.
Master of Sorcery progress: 22/31
Shrine of Amana & Undead Crypt
From the second bonfire, go towards the area with the one-eyed ogre. There's a long path leading to a metal chest with Sunlight Blade inside.
Master of Miracles progress: 18/28

Moving back from the previous path, hug the right side of the edge. You'll eventually encounter several curse jars. Behind them is a metal chest with a Fire Tempest within.
Master of Pyromancy progress: 14/24

In the area after the third bonfire with several of the sniper casters, there's a corpse with a Homing Crystal Soulmass.
Master of Sorcery progress: 23/31

Defeat Demon of Song and make your way towards Undead Crypt.

Undead Crypt

Talk to Grave Warden Agdayne (just don't light the place up!). Learn the gesture from him and buy the following:
  • Warmth
  • Soul Appease (if you didn't buy it from Chloanne)
Master of Pyromancy progress: 15/24
Reminder: Master of Miracles progress: 18/28
Gesture Maestro progress: 11/12

Once you're past the area with lots of hollows and two Leydia Black witches, immediately take a left turn and drop down to a small platform. Kill the hollows, go up the ladders and open the metal chest with a Crushed Eye Orb.

With the Crushed Eye Orb in your inventory if you go to where Licia is, the orb quivers. When you use the orb you invade Licia and your mission is to kill her. Do exactly this and get her stuff, which includes the Soothing Sunlight miracle (but don't forget to lit the second bonfire in Undead Crypt for an easy way to continue!)
Master of Miracles progress: 19/28

Don't forget that if you kill Licia without having gotten the Gathering of Exiles achievement, Licia disappears from that game and you won't be able to get the achievement until NG+! Kill her only after you've gotten the achievement.

In the room with tons of Leydia Pyromancer graves and bells that wake them up, there are two illusory walls. One of them hides a Pharros' contraption, and when a Pharros' Lockstone is used on it, the other illusory wall lights up. This wall has a metal chest inside with a Great Lightning Spear in it.
Master of Miracles progress: 20/28

If you want an easier way to get Great Lightning Spear, just go down the 12,000 soul ladders at the Majula pit to the room which you need the Forgotten Key for. There's a Lightning Spear + Great Lightning Spear and Soul Vortex.

Defeat Velstadt, the Royal Aegis. His soul can be used to get Sacred Oath from Straid.

Obtain King's Ring.
Curious Map progress: 6/8

You now have two paths:

  1. Throne Watcher & Throne Defender at Throne of Want. This is to get easy progress towards Benhart's storyline. I'm assuming you're doing this. If not, you can either hope he survives three boss battles in a row (he won't, Aldia's passive fire will wreck him) or summon him for the fight with Elana, Squalid Queen at Dragon's Sanctum.
  2. Ignore Benhart's storyline for now and go to Aldia's Keep.
Moonlight Greatsword progress: 3/3
Curious Map progress: 7/8
Aldia's Keep, Dragon Aerie, Dragon Shrine & Royal Sorcerer Navlaan
OH ♥♥♥♥ WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ IS WRONG WITH THIS PLACE, AKA my personal favorite area in the game

Lucatiel of Mirrah is at the first bonfire. If you've followed this guide, you should have her questline done by now. Talk to her and get her equipment. If you haven't done her questline yet, don't talk to her. She'll stay here for as long as you don't talk to her while you are still able to finish her questline. You can still summon her to the fight with Burnt Ivory King at Frozen Eleum Loyce and, if failing that, simply use Bonfire Ascetics to revive earlier bosses and defeat them with her.
Lucatiel achieved!

Royal Sorcerer Navlaan is here. Do not pull the lever that frees Navlaan. Otherwise you can't finish his questline, which will make you unable to get a sorcery and a pyromancy from him. We'll go through his questline once you get the Ashen Mist Heart.

On the second floor to the right of the grand staircase is a long walkway with a metal chest at the end of it. Acquire Great Magic Barrier from within.
Master of Miracles progress: 21/28

In the long hall with lots of trapped monsters above, there's a door to the left. In the middle of the stairway is an illusory wall to the left in case you didn't know already. At the bottom of the stairs is a pool of acid with two mutated dogs trapped inside. One of the corpses hold Soul Geyser.
Master of Sorcery progress: 24/31

Defeat Guardian Dragon and take the elevator up to Dragon Aerie.

Dragon Aerie

Talk to Emerald Herald and get her Aged Feather. You'll probably do this anyway, but I'm mentioning it specially just for Navlaan's questline.

You can skip this whole area if you want. However the dragons here drop some items that may be of interest: Fire Tempest, which was already in Shrine of Amana, but in case you missed it, you can get one easily here. The other item is Flame Quartz Ring +2 which can help a lot with getting the Chaos Storm from Iron Keep.
Reminder: Master of Pyromancy progress: 15/24

Other than that there's nothing of interest with the achievements in mind. Go ahead to Dragon Shrine.

Dragon Shrine

From where Dragonfang Villard invades you, there's a large rock on a pedestal. Pick it up (which also reveals that it's a Petrified Egg - yes I lied to you, I'm a terrible human being) and go show your prize to Magerold. He'll take it from you, but allows you to join the last covenant that's yet to be unlocked - Dragon Remnants.
Covenant of Ancients unlocked!

After taking the Petrified Egg, drop down to the platform below. There's a metal chest at one end of the platform holding a Crystal Magic Weapon.
Master of Sorcery progress: 25/31

Other than that there's nothing here, either. Enjoy your honorable duels and go claim Ashen Mist Heart from Ancient Dragon. You may want to get Soul of a Giant from it to make Vendrick easier later, but I think the amount of time spent on whacking away at tough Vendrick is equal to getting the soul from Ancient Dragon, so do whatever you want to.
Curious Map progress: 8/8

Go talk to Cale back at Majula after getting Ashen Mist Heart to get his equipment and end his "questline".
Curious Map achieved!

With that, we can go do Navlaan's questline. Remember, do not pull the lever that frees him, as it fails the questline.

Get yourself hollowed if you are human and go talk to Navlaan. He'll want you to kill the following people:
  • Laddersmith Gilligan
  • Cale the Cartographer
  • Felkin the Outcast
  • Emerald Herald
To finish his questline, you don't need to kill anyone. You can trick him by getting the items he wants in different ways:
  • Buy Ladder Miniature from Gilligan for 7,999 souls
  • Inherit Cale's equipment by lighting all flames in the map, which you've already done
  • Have 20 INT and 20 FTH and talk to Felkin to inherit his equipment
  • Talk to Emerald Herald at Dragon Aerie to get Aged Feather, which you did a few moments ago
Once you have done all that above, go talk to Navlaan, answer yes to all of his questions and receive rewards. You'll get Forbidden Sun and Unleash Magic.
Master of Sorcery progress: 26/31
Master of Pyromancy progress: 16/24
Memory of Orro, Vammar & Jeigh, Vendrick & Throne of Want
Make your way to Forest of the Fallen Giants once again. There are three tree of giants: One behind Pursuer's boss arena, one near where Pate was and one behind a King's Gate, below the second bonfire and across the large room.

Before entering Memory of Orro (it's the one at Pursuer's), exhaust Benhart's dialogue.

Memory of Orro

Exhaust Benhart's dialogue again. If you defeated Throne Watcher & Throne Defender with Benhart earlier, he should be giving his stuff to you, giving you the achievement and leaving him naked. Unlike Lucatiel, you can talk to him even if you haven't finished his questline. Remember, there's still Giant Lord and Elana, Squalid Queen to which you can summon him, and if that's not a possibility, use Bonfire Ascetics at earlier bosses and fight them again with him in tow.
Moonlight Greatsword achieved!

Go get the Soul of a Giant and return.

Memory of Vammar

This is the one near where Pate was. Exhaust Captain Drummond's dialogue and get his gesture. If everything's gone as planned, this is where you get the all gestures achievement. Hurrah!
Gesture Maestro achieved!

Go grab the Soul of a Giant and get out.

Memory of Jeigh

If you have yet to do Benhart's questline, you can summon him for the fight against Giant Lord. Don't summon Captain Drummond. You can only summon one person here, and summoning Drummond will make Benhart's sign disappear.

Defeat Giant Lord with your jolly co-op partner, take the Soul of a Giant and escape the horrors of war.

After the fall of Giant Lord, go back to talk to Drummond. He will give you the last part of the Drangleic set, the helm. And an achievement.
Holder of the Fort achieved!

You should have either 4 or 5 Souls of Giants now, depending on if you killed Ancient Dragon or not. Go back to Undead Crypt and set Vendrick free. This unlocks his achievement and the final secret fight against the Scholar of the First Sin.
Vendrick achieved!

Now it's time to end this. Not really because there are still the DLCs and one and a half more NGs to go, but at least the credits roll, which always makes yours truly sentimental. Warp to the first bonfire of Drangleic Castle and go through the King's Gate.

Throne of Want

Defeat Nashandra.

Defeat Aldia, Scholar of the First Sin.

Choose your ending.

Watch the 8 minutes of unskippable credits roll.
Darklurker, Boss Soul Spells & Preparation for the DLC Areas
Now is a good time to go beat up Darklurker. Clear the Dark Chasm of Old areas in Shaded Woods, Black Gulch and Drangleic Castle and defeat Darklurker to get his soul. You'll also get Resonant Soul, Great Resonant Soul and Climax from Grandahl during the process.
Master of Hexes progress: 16/23

Now is also a good time to use up the boss souls to get those fancy spells. Unless you've already claimed them, which is the logical thing to do if you followed my suggestion in the beginning and made a caster (what's that about an unconventional guide? Shut up!). Anyways, go to Straid. These are the spells you should be able to get from him by now:
  • Darklurker Soul -> Lifedrain Patch
  • Giant Lord Soul -> Repel
  • Scorpioness Najka Soul -> Soul Shower
  • Royal Rat Authority Soul -> Acid Surge
  • Royal Rat Vanguard Soul -> Toxic Mist
  • Ruin Sentinel Soul -> Heavy Homing Soul Arrow
  • Soul of Velstadt -> Sacred Oath
Master of Sorcery progress: 28/31
Master of Miracles progress: 22/28
Master of Pyromancy progress: 18/24
Master of Hexes progress: 18/23

huh, that's a lot less than I initially thought. oh well.

As stated in the beginning, the DLC spells are also required for the Master achievements. So, without further ado, let's clear those up!

The keys to the DLC areas are in the following places:
  • Dragon's Talon (Shulva, Sanctum City): Inside the room behind the large door at the end of the 12,000 soul ladder in Majula pit
  • Heavy Iron Key (Brume Tower): In the area with the Flame Salamanders in Forest of the Fallen Giants. Get there either by falling down from above or using the Iron Key from Iron Keep on the door before the Last Giant
  • Frozen Flower (Frozen Eleum Loyce): It's in plain sight in Drangleic Castle after the right soul door after the first bonfire. You probably didn't miss it.
The locations to the DLC areas are as follow:
  • Shulva, Sanctum City: After Black Gulch's primal bonfire
  • Brume Tower: After Iron Keep's primal bonfire
  • Frozen Eleum Loyce: Shrine of Winter, the small shrine in the middle of the path between Drangleic Castle and the second bonfire of Shaded Woods

We'll start with Shulva, Sanctum City.
Shulva, Sanctum City & Dragon's Sanctum
Shulva, Sanctum City

From the second bonfire, go back down to the small tower with many enemies nearby. There's a raisable platform somewhere behind the tower to which you drop down to. Do so, find a switch behind several stone-spitting statues (similar to the ones you see at Black Gulch), hit it with an arrow and raise the platform. It will take you to a path which ends in a cave with a super weird tree in it. A corpse has the hex Promised Walk of Peace with it. Take it.
Master of Hexes progress: 19/23

Again from the second bonfire, go down the way which takes you to Dragon's Sanctum. However before the bridge with the two lancer Sanctum Soldiers, continue the path to the right. There's a corpse with Focus Souls on it.
Master of Sorcery progress: 29/31

Continue towards Dragon's Sanctum.

Dragon's Sanctum

In the room with lots of spikes and several ghost Sanctum Knights, there's another one of those spinning walls with two holes on it, one of which is large enough for you to pass by. The switch to operate this wall is behind it, you'll have to shoot it up from the bridge to turn it, then from next to it, then again from the bridge to have it open for you. There's a metal chest within that has Denial in it.
Master of Miracles progress: 23/28

Once you get to the bonfire that's right next to Cave of the Dead, take the elevator down. Jump off from it halfway down to the bonfire's side. There's a metal chest there with the hex Dark Greatsword in it.
Master of Hexes progress: 20/23

You don't need to defeat any bosses to get all the spells in this DLC area. However it's recommended, because they're all fun fights!
Brume Tower & Memory of the Old Iron King
Brume Tower

Unlike in Shulva, you need to defeat all bosses other than the Smelter Demon in Iron Passage. In fact, that area is completely skippable. However you'll need all the Smelter Wedges to destroy all the ashen idols to get Soul of Nadalia, Bride of Ash. Including the one you get from Sir Alonne. But first, let's find the other spells.

In the room with lots of Ashen Warriors buffed by the Ashen Idol, between first and second bonfire, there's a side room. You can find Dance of Fire pyromancy there on a corpse.
Master of Pyromancy progress: 19/24

In the tower where you can get the Scorching Iron Scepter there's a hall with several doors. It's the place where Quicksword Rachel invades at. One of the doors hides the hex Recollection.
Master of Hexes progress: 21/23

Near the third bonfire is a locked door, behind which is a dark area with constant curse build-up. The Fire Snake pyromancy can be found from a metal chest there.
Master of Pyromancy progress: 20/24

Defeat Fume Knight and get his shard of Soul of Nadalia, Bride of Ash.

Defeat Sir Alonne and get his Smelter Wedge.

Find the four extra Smelter Wedges by going the other way from the door that takes you to Memory of the Old Iron King. Follow the path until you get to a metal chest with the Smelter Wedges inside.

There are 11 ashen idols scattered around the level:
  • One just after the first bonfire
  • Going through the level like normal, in a room with lots of Ashen Warriors
  • Still progressing like normal, in the room where you drop down to either from one of the opening pits or descending the ladders
  • Far below the tower where Maldron the Assassin invades at (have fun)
  • On the way to the bonfire with Sir Alonne's armor, before which the Prowlers invade
  • Behind the locked door at the third bonfire, filled with curse
  • From the second bonfire, go the way with the erratic elevator that doesn't stop by platforms is at. Go past it to the door. One of the four doors in the room has the ashen idol behind it.
  • The last four are around Fume Knight's boss area, which you hopefully did deactivate before fighting him
Here's a video showing all the locations with some fun music:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsggqRP4i0E

Once you have all 12 shards, a message appears and you have the full Soul of Nadalia, Bride of Ash in your inventory. Bring it to Straid to get Outcry with it.
Master of Pyromancy progress: 21/24
Frozen Eleum Loyce & Preparations for NG+
First things first: You don't need to clear Frigid Outskirts for the achievements nor do you need to farm Loyce Souls. Phew! Actually, you don't even need to beat Aava or get the Eye of the Priestess to get everything here. This is definitely the easiest place, in regards of achievements.

From the second bonfire, go to the first opening with several Ice Golems that transform their hand to whatever they wish. Behind the tree is a path which leads you to a Ring of the Embedded to the left and Dark Dance on the right.
Master of Hexes progress: 22/23

Go all the way past the area with the two invisible NPC enemies at the two ballistae. Go forwards like normal a bit, until there's an opening at the left wall with a single Ice Rapier holding Spellsword there. Kill him and pull the lever there to lift up the elevator with all the rubble on it. It's the same rubble at the beginning of the area, if you remember. We'll be going back later to find whatever's behind it, there's an another spell nearby.

Take a right turn to a seemingly dead-end. If you inspect the wall, you can see that you can climb a ladder there. If you have the Eye of the Priestess you can see that there actually is a ladder, but you don't need it to climb it. Instead you'll look like you're scaling the wall. Badass! At the top is a metal chest with Splintering Lightning Spear in it.
Master of Miracles progress: 24/28

Go back to the first bonfire to the corridor where you lifted the elevator from. At the end you'll find the Soul Flash sorcery.
Master of Sorcery progress: 30/31

We're now at the end of the first NG. We've found all sorceries, miracles, pyromancies and hexes that can be found and bought as little of them as possible. Give yourself a pat to the back, most of the work is now done.

At this point I'll assume that you've already ranked the Heirs of the Sun covenant up to rank 3 and have gotten the Sunlight Spear. Great job!
Master of Miracles progress: 25/28

If you haven't picked up Chaos Storm from Iron Keep yet, do it now. Remember, it's in the large room with several buttons that, when pressed, turn the platforms next to them down, dropping down any enemy (or yourself) standing on it. There's a lava path next to the Alonne Captain archer below. The metal chest at the end of it holds the Chaos Storm. If you need to, you can go grab Flame Quartz Ring +3 and Dispelling Ring +1 from Brume Tower to make the whole thing trivial.
Master of Pyromancy progress: 22/24

Make sure you have the same amount of spells I've listed here. If you're too lazy to scroll up, here's how many you should have of each:
Master of Sorcery progress: 30/31
Master of Miracles progress: 25/28
Master of Pyromancy progress: 22/24
Master of Hexes progress: 22/23

Here's a list of all spells you should have by now:

Now we've got the hardest part out of the way, that is NG. You are now free to rush through most of NG+ and NG++, with only a few stops in-between. Are you ready?
NG+
Begin journey 2 to Drangleic.

Again, you're free to get through NG+ however you wish, however the next four are a must.

Sinner's Rise

Defeat the Lost Sinner. Acquire Old Witch Soul. Give it to Straid to get Flame Weapon.
Master of Pyromancy progress: 23/24

Iron Keep

Defeat Old Iron King and get the Old King Soul. Give it to Straid for Blinding Bolt.
Master of Miracles progress: 26/28

Brightstone Cove Tseldora

Defeat the Duke's Dear Freja to get Old Paledrake Soul. Go to Straid and give it to him for Crystal Soul Spear and to finish the achievement.
Master of Sorceries achieved!

Black Gulch

Defeat the Rotten. Bring the Old Dead One Soul to Straid and get Numbness, finishing an another achievement.
Master of Hexes achieved!

Finish NG+ however you wish and begin journey 3 to Drangleic.
NG++
In NG++, you're even more free than in NG+. You don't even have to defeat the four Great Ones! Good luck with that though, you'll need to get 3,000,000 souls one way or another. No, not 3,000,000 Soul Memory, 3,000,000 souls in NG++. A pain, right?

(Just to be clear: You only need to gain 3 million souls during an NG++ run to be able to open Shrine of Winter without defeating the four great ones. You don't need to have all those souls at once, either, all you need is to gain 3 million souls one way or another, you're free to spend it whenever and wherever. More info here[darksouls2.wikidot.com].)

Anyways, make your way towards Drangleic Castle. Talk to Chancellor Wellager and buy the following from him:
  • Great Chaos Fireball
  • Bountiful Sunlight
  • Wrath of the Gods
Master of Pyromancy achieved!
Master of Miracles achieved!

The Dark Soul achieved!
Many monarchs have come and gone
CONGRATULATIONS! If you followed this guide through, once you bought the last three spells from Wellager, you should have The Dark Soul achievement. That's the achievement you get once you have all other achievements.

It sure has been a long journey. You explored the majority of the world in NG, cleared NG+ and even went half-way through NG++! Man, that's amazing. Once again, congratulations!

You're now free to do whatever you want. If you are the kind who 100 %'s their games, now you could go complete an another game. Get dat sweet golden C in Backloggery!

Maybe you found out how fun PvP can be, and now you wish to try other forms of PvP in Scholar of the First Sin... In this guide we only tried Bell Keeper covenant, which can be a lot of fun, but there's still the Rat King covenant (it doesn't have to be all about ganking! Use the traps!) and invading. There's also Brotherhood of Blood and Blue Sentinels arenas for those sweet 1 vs. 1 matches.

Maybe you want to try utilizing all the spells given by the game. Or maybe you want to try different weapons. DLC weapons especially can be pretty nasty. Co-op might also be your thing, clearing through whole areas instead of typical placing signs in front of bosses!

Whatever it is you want to do, you are free to do, whether it is playing this game or an other game, whether it's a hobby of yours or something completely new you want to try out. Beyond the scope of light and beyond the reach of Dark there surely is something in this world. Luckily we aren't in the Souls universe.

Lucatiel of Mirrah and Benhart of Jugo locations
Lucatiel of Mirrah

No-man's Wharf: At the middle of the stairway after the two houses with hollow infantry, turn left and go inside the building. Go upstairs to find her leaning to a wall.

https://youtu.be/3pCYw1MJ9sA?t=23s

Lost Bastille: Go straight from the Undead Jailer who kicks down the explosive barrel at you. She's at the tower at the end of the path. You can't miss her as you're going through the normal path of Lost Bastille.

Earthen Peak: She's hiding at the poison path at the right immediately after entering Earthen Peak before Covetous Demon.

https://youtu.be/EKDntLGkjdk?t=14s

Black Gulch: Hug the right side of the ledge from the first bonfire until you see a cliff beneath. Jump there and follow the path until you find Lucatiel.

https://youtu.be/Ma3YdpvVj_c?t=15s

Summon sign locations:

No-man's Wharf: It's on the bridge that leads to the boat with Flexile Sentry in it. If you talked to her prior, you can't miss it.

Sinner's Rise: It's at the bottom of the long elevator before the Flexile Sentry. You can't miss it.

Iron Keep: It's in front of the Smelter Demon boss fog a bit further away where most people put their signs down to. You can't miss it... well, unless there are a ton of other signs. Anyways it's there.

Black Gulch: Coming from the bonfire, at the right side of the wall further ahead in front of you at the second tar pools. There's a tiny path leading to a petrified statue. Unpetrify him and kill him to reveal a bonfire and Lucatiel's summon sign.

Grand Cathedral: Next to the metal chest containing Vessel Shield.

Remember, you need to summon her to three boss fights and have her survive all of them. If she dies, simply kill yourself and try again.

Benhart of Jugo

Majula: At the path between Shaded Woods and Majula. You can't miss him. Make sure to talk to him after unpetrifying Rosabeth of Melfia.

Drangleic Castle: At the third bonfire (or second if you missed the hidden one before the Dragonriders). You can't miss him.

Forest of the Fallen Giants: Near the tree which leads you to Memory of Orro, behind the Pursuer's boss arena.

Memory of Orro: It's the memory behind the Pursuer's boss arena. Yes, you just talked to him at Forest of the Fallen Giants. No, you're not going crazy.

Summon sign locations:

Brightstone Cove Tseldora: In of the tents near the first bonfire.

Drangleic Castle: In front of the Looking Glass Knight boss fog.

Memory of Jeigh: Past Captain Drummond's summon sign below the small set of stairs. Don't summon Drummond if you want to summon Benhart here! You can only summon one of them, not both.

Throne of Want: In front of the boss fog, along with Head of Vengarl and Bradley of the Old Guard.

Dragon's Sanctum: Near Elena, Squalid Queen's boss fog at the back of the bottom-most level.

As with Lucatiel, you have to have him survive three boss fights.
The flames of the Curious Map
You can light the Majula mansion's flames by doing the following:
  1. Defeat the Last Giant
  2. Defeat the Lost Sinner
  3. Defeat Old Iron King
  4. Defeat the Duke's Dear Freja
  5. Defeat the Rotten
  6. Acquire King's Ring
  7. Acquire Ashen Mist Heart
  8. Defeat Throne Watcher & Throne Defender
After all of the above have been done, go talk to Cale the Cartographer. He will give you his equipment and you'll get the achievement.
Gathering of Exiles
You need to gather the following to Majula to get the achievement:

Cale the Cartographer: He can be found in Forest of the Fallen Giants. From the second bonfire, go past the first fog and turn right at the tree bridge to get to the area with lots of hollow archers. He's inside a cave there. Exhaust his dialogue and defeat Last Giant. Go back to Majula, open the door to Majula mansion and go defeat the skeleton(s) at the basement. After all three of those have been done, rest at a bonfire and he should appear.

Carhillion of the Fold: He's at No-man's Wharf near the boat with Flexile Sentry on it. You need 8 INT for him to talk to you at all. Once you've had him open up to you, defeat Flexile Sentry and he should move to Majula.

Laddersmith Gilligan: He's hiding at Earthen Peak, but all you need to do is to defeat Mytha, the Baneful Queen for him to move to Majula all by himself.

Licia of Lindeldt: Heide's Tower of Flame, after Dragonriders at the second bonfire. You can't miss her. Exhaust her dialogue for her to move to Majula. Don't kill her with or without Crushed Eye Orb before you've gotten the achievement! She won't count towards the achievement as a ghost.

Merchant Hag Melentia: Found at the second bonfire at Forest of the Fallen Giants. Exhaust her dialogue and defeat Last Giant and she'll move to Majula.

Rosabeth of Melfia: She's the petrified statue blocking the lever at the path between Shaded Woods and Majula. Unpetrify her, give her clothes and she'll move to Majula.

Stone Trader Chloanne: At the beginning of Harvest Valley. You can't miss her. Exhaust her dialogue and have her move to Majula.

After all seven are present in Majula and you haven't killed anybody, the achievement should pop up next time you go to Majula.
Covenant locations
You need to get the inquiry for whether or not you want to join the covenant to unlock the achievements. As in:
"Abandon your current covenant and join the Way of Blue?"

Way of Blue: Saulden the Crestfallen Warrior at Majula. Exhaust his dialogue and he'll offer it to you.

Company of Champions: Take a right turn before going down the stairs where Licia is. There's a memorial at the end of the path. If you try to join the covenant, it'll ask two questions, say yes to both of them and have it finally ask if you want to join the covenant. Don't worry, answering the first two admittedly scary questions won't permanently change your game, not even joining the covenant.

Blue Sentinels: Blue Sentinel Targray at Cathedral of Blue in Heide's Tower of Flame. Need to defeat Old Dragonslayer to get to him. Also need to have a Token of Fidelity either by successfully co-opping as a white phantom (not as a member of the Heirs of the Sun covenant!) or from a corpse in front of the second bonfire of Huntsman's Copse. Without a Token of Fidelity he doesn't want to talk to you.

Bell Keepers: Belfry Guard either at Belfry Luna in Lost Bastille or Belfry Sol in Iron Keep. You need a Pharros' Lockstone to access either of them. Belfry Luna is right below the second bonfire at Lost Bastille, and Belfry Sol is past the bridge with two Alonne knights and an Ironclad after the second bonfire. Take a left turn immediately after entering the large room and open the door.

Brotherhood of Blood: Titchy Gren at Undead Purgatory in Huntsman's Copse. Need to defeat Executioner's Chariot and have a Token of Spite for him to care about you. You can get it either by successfully invading an another player's world with a Cracked Red Eye Orb or as a treasure at the bottom of Grave of Saints just before entering the Gutter. Titchy Gren will ask you a lot of questions, answer yes to everything until he offers the covenant.

Heirs of the Sun: At Harvest Valley, take a left turn right before entering Earthen Peak (at the same area with the two dark orb throwing freaks in the poison pool). Follow the path until you find a broken statue. Examine it.

Rat King Covenant: Talk to the Rat King after defeating Royal Rat Vanguard at Grave of Saints or Royal Rat Authority at Doors of Pharros.

Pilgrims of Dark: Find Darkdiver Grandahl at the following locations:
  • Shaded Woods: From the third bonfire, go to the two towers past which is the path leading to Scorpioness Najka. Go past the towers (as in don't go between them) towards a sole tree near the ledge. There's a hole that you can drop down to. Grandahl is hiding there.
  • Black Gulch: Between the two Razorback Nightcrawlers is a cliff below the ledge. Drop down there, use the Forgotten Key from the two Elite Giants further below on the door and talk to Grandahl inside.
  • Drangleic Castle: From the first bonfire, open the far left soul door by killing a stone soldier near it. There's a spot there which seems broken; step on it and it'll give in to your weight. Light the bonfire and talk to Grandahl.
After the third time you meet Grandahl, he'll offer the covenant with you. Below is a video of his locations with a lot of babbling:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=126eo34cGPA

Dragon Remnants: Get the Petrified Egg at Dragon Shrine where you fight the invader Dragonfang Villard at. Give the egg to Magerold of Lanafir at Iron Keep and he'll offer the covenant to you when you talk to him again.
Miscellaneous achievements
Change of Clothes: Simply give Rosabeth of Melfia equipment once you've unpetrified her at the path between Shaded Woods and Majula.

Garrulous Miser: When Laddersmith Gilligan moves to Majula, buy the 12,000 ladder from him and talk to him afterwards.

Holder of the Fort: Talk to Captain Drummond at Memory of Vammar (that's the tree near the place where Pate sat at in Forest of the Fallen Giants) after defeating Giant Lord.

Reflections on Disembodiment: Simply exhaust Head of Vengarl's dialogue.

Selfless Giver: Get any covenant to rank 3. Easiest and shortest way is to clear all Dark Chasm of Old while in Pilgrims of Dark covenant. Defeating Darklurker will net you rank 3 in the covenant when you talk to Darkdiver Grandahl. Alternatively you can be in Way of Blue covenant and defeat invaders that you summon via red signs or standing in Belfry Luna or Belfry Sol, as you need only 10 wins to get rank 3 in this covenant. Talk to Saulden the Crestfallen Warrior afterwards.

Smith for Life: Spend 14,000 souls on weapon reinforcements or infusions with Steady Hand McDuff. Talk to him afterwards and receive his items.

Vendrick: Defeat Vendrick at the end of Undead Crypt after Velstadt, the Royal Aegis. You should have at least four Souls of Giants, otherwise you don't do much for damage.

Thanks to http://darksouls2.wikidot.com/ for the pictures and giving explanations when I could not.

Thanks to From Software for creating such a great game series! Eagerly waiting for Dark Souls III (also please bring Demon's Souls and Bloodborne to PC)

Thanks to ME for spending two whole days making this guide only. I'm glad I'm on a vacation right now

Thanks to YOU for using this guide! Yeah, even if you haven't played the game yet. I do think that's a dumb thing to do, but whatever floats your boat, eh?

Questions? Got feedback to give? Perhaps I gave wrong information? Leave a comment and I'll read with with ALL MY MIGHT. Maybe even respond with the STRENGTH OF TEN ELEPHANTS.

The 3 million souls are required to be able to be open Shrine of Winter without defeating the four great ones. In NG, it's 1 million, and each subsequent replay raises it with 1 million, hence 3 million.

The guide doesn't say that, though; I think I should put it up there. Thanks for the feedback!

Also, somehow I missed chan4est's message. Glad the guide was of help, and glad to hear that you got all achievements!

Thanks for the guide! Really helpful guide, I almost got all the achievements.
Why do you write in NG++ need 3,000,000 souls? In my NG++, I reached Dragenlic Castle and bought the missing miracles for a very reasonable price - from 10 to 17 thousand souls. What 3 million?
chan4est 11 Aug, 2022 @ 7:57am
Amazing guide! Just finished my 100%. Thank you so much! Been wanting to replay Dark Souls II for years so I'm happy I finally took the time to 100% it again.

Took me 43 hours of playtime. Grinding for sunlight medals and the rat invasions offline wasn't bad at all. Both took maybe 3 hours total? Way easier than Dark Souls III covenant grinding.

Time Breakdown:
NG - 38 hours
NG+ - 4 hours
NG++ - 1 hour (I just farmed The Rotten like 10 times with all the soul-increasing gear)
maximiano14 2 Apr, 2022 @ 6:26pm
I lost almost 5 million souls over that 3000000 souls goal...Gosh u are evil!

Sorry about manners, but I mean the important thing is talk with him without pulling the lever on every scenario.
Omertoso  [author] 9 Jul, 2021 @ 12:10am
under the section Aldia's Keep, Dragon Aerie, Dragon Shrine & Royal Sorcerer Navlaan:

"Royal Sorcerer Navlaan is here. Do not pull the lever that frees Navlaan . Otherwise you can't finish his questline, which will make you unable to get a sorcery and a pyromancy from him. We'll go through his questline once you get the Ashen Mist Heart."

he's mentioned again in the same section without a warning, 'cause I expected people to read the whole section and remember the warning from earlier. well, I added a warning in any case.

thanks for the report, but try to be less of an a-hole about it. you'll get better results that way.
Rok 8 Jul, 2021 @ 7:59pm
This guide sucks really hard mate. How the fuck can you explain something so freaking important like Navlaan this way? don't you even know these type of guides are for people who don't know what to do? it's so fuckin important make super clear that :
----YOU. MUST. TALK HIM. WITHOUT. PULL. THE. LEVER. ----

Goddamit, fuck this guide srsly.
Mordred 11 Dec, 2020 @ 9:35pm
A terrific guide, very easy to follow and/or search for specifics. Thank you!

Great guide, got me through all achievements easily. A little tip to make your NG++ faster. Don't use any souls in your NG and NG+, when you get to NG++ consume all of them (including boss souls) and go farm Rotten for the rest of 3 mil. requirement. Just use ascetics at the second Black Gulch bonfire. You get around 250k souls for every kill and he's not that hard even on NG+8.
TheColorUrple 13 Apr, 2018 @ 6:16am
Just a heads up for everybody using the guide. In Aldia's Keep, the lever that frees Navlaan which you should not pull is on the left side of the main atrium with the large dragon skeleton, down a hallway with tons of dev messages saying "Turn Back".

You should definitely know this because the guide makes no mention of any of this and it's easy to assume the lever has nothing to do with Navlaan, since he spawns in a different hallway.
