Soma - Top Damage Crit Build (4 Forma)

The Soma:
The Soma is a Tenno designed assault rifle with high accuracy, magazine capacity, and critical ratio. It uses an enormous magazine to sustain fire but must wind up briefly to achieve its maximum fire rate. Though it may appear to have lackluster damage, the critical ratios make the Soma a deceivingly powerful rifle. Coupled with its high accuracy, the Soma is suitable for any distance engagement when fire is managed.

Before we get started just want to say if you enjoyed the guide leave a rating.
Materials Needed:
The Soma blueprint can be found in the market for 50,000 Credits.

After buying the BP you will need the following materials:

- 15,000 Credits
- 7 Morphics
- 850 Plastids
- 1,200 Rubedo
- 8,000 Salvage

Or you can just buy the gun for platinum which is 265p.
The Stats:
Mastery Level: 6
Trigger Type: Auto
Projectile Speed: Hit-Scan
Fire Rate: 15 rounds/sec
Magazine Size: 100
Max Ammo: 540
Reload Time: 3s
Physical Damage: 10
Impact: 1
Puncture: 4
Slash: 5
Crit Chance: 30%
Crit Damage: 300%
Status Chance: 7%

Comes with 2 V polarities

Has a high crit rate which makes it viable for crit builds.
Rifle Ammo Mutation may be needed to help with the loss of ammo.
Modding VS Void/Infested:
I tend to mod the same for infested and void so here's a build that works for both.



So first add all your damage mods; Serration, Heavy Caliber and Split Chamber. Try to keep Heavy Cal 3 from the top so the accuracy of the soma isn't affected that bad.

So you want:

Toxin and Electric for Corrosive do deal extra 75% damage to ancients and heavy gunners.

Fire for extra 25 - 50% damage to the lighter units of the infested and for extra 25% damage to the heavy gunners
Modding VS Grineer:
Moving onto the Grineer build...



So keep everything as it was before, all you need to change are a few elements.

We need Electric and Fire for Radiation to get extra 75% damage to those tough napalms and bombards.

And Cold damage, its not the most ideal element for Grineer but there's simply not enough room for extra dual element, but with cold you will do extra 25% damage to napalms and bombards.
Modding VS Corpus:
Finally onto Corpus



First we get Electric and Cold to get mag, to do an extra 75% damage to those shielded Corpus units.

For the second element we use toxin so you can bypass Corpus shields completely and attack their HP without even lowering their shields and also for 50% extra damage to flesh units and 25% to proto shield users

Overall the Soma is a great weapon, if not built towards crits you might as well not use it at all, it's made for crits.

The weapon is one of the most used weapons in game and one of the most powerful, however it can be tricky for newer players to get the materials required to make it but once you do and slap a few forma on, you'll have a beast of a weapon.

Yeah I hope we get Soma prime, boltor prime will be crying even more after that XD.

Yes spending plat on resources is an utter waste. You are better off buying slots or cosmetics than something that you can farm easily.

Just a note, i prefer the boltor prime slightly to the soma, since i can lead well enough for most medium to long ranges, and ragdolling is always fun, but something worth adding to the top of this page is spending plat on resources is usually 1/3-1/2 the price of just outright buying the weapon for plat

Also I forgot to add this but with Soma you don't need to fully reload, you can reload to around 60%-70% and then skip it with melee or jump which will still count as a full reload.

"Boltor Prime MasterRace" my ass. Boltor Prime isn't nearly as good as Soma. Boltor Prime ain't hitscan, uses ammo faster than Soma, has a smaller clip than Soma, Boltor Prime can't do around 100k damage or should I call it Crit Damage, Soma's reload animation looks better, Soma is a better choice for squishier frames (and there are a lot today becuase for Boltor Prime you gotta get in the enemy's face just like Freakyideas said) and Soma shoots faster. Boltor Prime is a Prime weapon which #1 makes it harder to get, #2 it even gets beaten by a non prime weapon, #3 Soma does the same damage output as Boltor prime most of the time. So yeah. Soma is indeed better.

you know the dmg output of soma is slightly lower then boltor prime? But soma is a hitscan weapon and boltor prime isnt, which makes boltor prime shitty in comparison with soma, because you gotta be in someone's face to make all your shots count XD
