Left 4 Dead Arcade questions
Was reading your description of how you got the files for the L4D Arcade data. Was curious about the platform itself, was it basically just a PC game optomized for a cabinet? Was it a simple drag and drop effort or did a lot of work need to be made to turn the files into something that could work in Workshop?

the Taito X3 cabinet is literally just based on a windows hardware. so in simpler terms it is a PC inside a cabinet made to work alongside the game's scripts. there's .res files in the Game that are exclusive to the cabinet box itself to make parts light up and such. As for the build itself, Tillice and many others found out it is fully playable on PC you just need to run it using console commands since the UI is still in Japanese and a translation project can take a while to do. But it is being worked on for a debug menu.

as for the files itself, it's literally just PC L4D2 but with new additions like new weapons, an avatar customization menu, new game modes, special infected variants, and of course new survivor dialogue and the models for the 4 survivors are done much differently than normal L4D2 to accomodate for the customizeable cosmetics you can unlock for them. each survivor is made up of 4 .mdl files now instead of one. they're the hair, head, upper body, and lower body and each part can be mixed and matched with the cosmetics you unlock to create a survivor unique to the player. this version also has a custom mouse cursor that shows which L4D2 never had.

as for porting it to the workshop it was both simple and difficult. Some survivors were easier to port over like Blake. But some survivors have .mdl files exclusive to them. so for example despite haruka replacing coach and bill in game, the .mdl files for Coach and Bill still exist in the game files. while Haruka's is in a .mdl file called paruparu. So to port her to L4D2 I had to merge her bones from each .mdl file which have a different armature then the more difficult part was the animations as they too are unique to these new survivors. Luckily the anim files when broken down show which original survivor's animations they used. So for example w Haruka again, despite replacing coach she uses Rochelle's animations.
:( why not for rochelle or zoey

Rochell and zoey position is sara's (woman) position. And nick's position is yusuke, ellis's position is jordan. So maybe haruka is coach position.
