Description

Recognising the need for heavily armoured warships to still utilise bridges with a clear line of sight, TVSI-Tech Engineers have taken advantage of the recent influx of high quality Carbon on the market to produce a military grade glass with extremely high projectile damage resistance. Nearly as resilient as a heavy armour block, the Diamond Bonded Glass also has an extra lattice of re-enforced metal.

Due to the hexagonal shape of the re-enforcement lattice, these panels have become known simply as 'Hex Glass' by TVSI Engineers.

Survival Vs Creative

The Survival Pack of this mod is in partnership with Geneticus. His Carbon mod is included within this package and allows for a complete production cycle.

Carbon Ore -> Refined Carbon -> Diamond Bonded Glass -> Windows

The entire Carbon pack is included and you do not need to install it separately, though running both should do no harm as they use the same IDs etc.

The Creative Pack does not include the Carbon mod and only begins from the Diamond Bonded Glass Component stage. They can be manufactured from large amounts of standard silicon.

Notes

- Each 'flat' block of glass is approximately the same weight as a heavy armour block, and has about 70% of the damage resistance.
- Slopes, Faces and Sides are recalculated slightly to be 1.3, 0.9 and 0.66 times the Face value to account for their surface area.
- 2x1 blocks maintain the same maths, but of course are twice as tough as their counterparts.
- 3x2 and 3x3 blocks suffer from diminishing returns (weaker due to a larger gap between the frames) and are 3x (Instead of 6x) and 5x (Instead of 9x) stronger.

- I have altered the traditional icons as they often made no sense and in several cases show entirely the wrong piece. I know we're all used to this, but I've decided to switch to what I hope will be a clearer icon system. Let me know feedback on this.

- As I am not a survival player, let alone with extra material mods, I have had to go with guestimate construction costs and times. I am very interested in the survival community's feedback on this!

- This pack kindly contains Eikester's round glass as well in the Diamond Bonded version.

- After changes to the game earlier in the year, these should now be resistant to missiles as well as projectiles.

Soo as NONE of the TVSI mods have been updated in well over a year..... Is it too much to ask if someone else can pick them up?

Hello, Tristavius. Could you please update this mod one more time? Thanks.

By some miracle of christmas, the glass in this mod did NOT become an opaque purple. YAY! The hex-pattern on the other hand is no longer present.

Echoing an earlier commenter, yes, please make the round parts for small ship grid. thx. :-)

Hey Tristavius, do you mind if i upload a slightly edited version of this, just changing the transparency a bit to make it easier to see out of? I will of course link back to this mod and ensure I state that its your original work and all I did was change a few things.

Keen seem to be changing the way glass renders almost weekly at the moment for most of 2016... once things seem to have settled down I'll have a look at improving it as much as possible but currently every time I spend a week trying to sort it the time just gets wasted. Glass also seems to be quite user-setup specific (some very, very different results on different machines/settings) so any screenshot links always helps!

this used to look really good with the dx9 renderer, just like the pictures you have, however now that the dx9 has been cut, with dx11 the resolution seems far less on the glass the hexagons are noticably pixelated, also the panes seem to glow strangely. any ideas?
