Description
Hello!

This is the reworked and simplified version of my previous traffic mod with slow SCS vehicles on roads. The "city-only" addon has been also added (see below).

Originally this mod adds some slow traffic vehicles into basic traffic (cities, highways etc.). They have reduced top speed (and also realistic engine settings and mass), causing traffic jams and more complicated road conditions.

All the vehicles are from SCS files, but these vehicles do not show on roads for some reason. And now they do, after a little tweaks from the def side.

Here is the list of new vehicle units added (it has been cut in V.2 but also some new vehicles added):
- Combine Harvester
- Pickup truck without rear body
- Airport Tug vehicle
- Old pickup truck
- Outrider ATV 6x6
- Sweeper
- Towtruck 3-axle
- Towtruck 4-axle
- Tractor
- Wolverine ATV
- Yard Truck

Mod manager priority: any; I'd recommend installing it somewhere alongside other traffic mods.

Other mods compatibility: should work with other mods (traffic, sounds etc.).

Game version: tested in 1.53 (not lower than 1.50!) but might work with other versions too (not guaranteed though).

One more important addition in V.2 is a new addon which should limit all of these vehicles to cities only. It should be placed right above this mod. It's functionality is experimental though. The link:

Also there is a very useful mod by Krys Emlyn which fixes the SCS model of Old Pickup truck (which's added into this my mod) - it is up to you if you want to use it. But if you don't, they won't be paintable in traffic and with a broken lightmask (that doesn't cause any log/performance problems, just about the visuals). The link:

Why is there a Gator driving on the interstate or in a city? Makes this mod unplayable unless you're driving in only rural areas.

I don't play much especially lately so yes, before that kind of mods I've seen them last time like years and years ago, and some of them were never seen by me at all

also when they spawn that rarely as they do by SCS they don't get any traffic jam troubles but they do thanks to my mod - and this is what makes sense for me (and possibly other drivers as I read their feedbacks)

of course I 'simplified" the description a little because otherwise there would be a whole book of description which I don't feel like writing provided I don't have a lot of PC time lately

Some of these already spawn, but only on backroads and cities.

Such as the harvester, and tractor.
I've been stuck behind them a couple of times but they only spawn on speicfic roads in specific areas.

There's also a street sweeper that spawns in some cities, but only the cities.

With that being said, i don't know where you got the ''SCS never used them'' idea from.

SCS default traffic is a kind of an abstract structure because of limited variety and very primitive traffic spawn/rules definitions which are mostly impossible to fix since the game does not support any scripting mods

you surely have a point there but it sounds pretty impossible for me to implement that... these tractors already have the "rural" tag but it doesn't work the way we need, and I didn't find anything inside game core files which would stricly limit them as those rural vehicles...

the only 'somehow-working' feature is city-limiting for now, and anyway adding new traffic categories is something I do not feel like implementing because it would need rewriting of some existing game files, while the current option works like a simple addition without any replacements

and after that, I'm working with (driveable) SCS models only and there is only one tractor model... I usually see construction tractors on the roads IRL and I wanted to bring them there on the roads in the game too, and for me these farm tractors doing this job very well just because there are no other options...

Farm equipment shouldn't be in any city unless it's being delivered to a farm implement dealership. Moving on it's own in the country in the fields or highways is good if on country roads. No interstate highways.
