Description
The masked maniac and antagonist of Super Gear Quest, Alvis, comes to Rivals of Aether! Alvis is a glass cannon character with low weight, but a good recovery and powerful attacks!

Moveset

Neutral Special
Alvis creates one of his shadow clones! The clone will use the uncharged version of Alvis' FSpecial whenever you press the special attack button (or use DSpecial if you hold down while pressing special). You can also use NSpecial again to swap places with the clone when holding the button, or move the clone to you when tapping the button. This allows you to move it around, but swapping places with the clone can also aid you in mixing up your recovery or confusing your opponent!
However, note that the clone will enter hitstun if damaged, and enough damage from enemies can destroy it!

Side Special
Alvis opens his cloak and fires multiple weak, flinching projectiles backward, which then accelerates forward! Can be charged for more projectiles, and at full charge he will use the attack on both sides just like in the original game!

Up Special
Alvis summons a huge laser from above! This move actually doesn't help Alvis recover at all, but it's very powerful.

Down Special
Alvis does a simple attack in front of him, which will mark an opponent if it hits. Once marked, doing DSpecial again makes Alvis do his neck crack move, which causes a delayed explosion where the marked opponent is. If the marked opponent is in hitstun when you do this, the explosion will be much quicker. Can be an amazing combo finisher and kill move!

Super Gear Quest

Alvis comes from Super Gear Quest, a Metroidvania which released May 5th, 2020 (inspired by games like Metroid, Cave Story, Kirby, etc). I developed the game by myself and made this mod in hopes that a few more people would learn about the game, so please check it out!
Extras
- Alvis can use his strong attacks in the air, similar to Galacta Knight.
- Alvis can hover if you hold Jump, and his recovery relies entirely on this and as his many double jumps.

Thank you and glad to hear you like Alvis! I hope you enjoy Super Gear Quest as well, more people checking it out would be awesome!

Oh and yeah I have 22 released characters now and more coming, so I definitely recommend checking out all of them haha!

This has very quickly become my favorite Rivals character. Love the aesthetic and the playstyle it encourages. Probably about as close as I can get to playing my namesake in a fighting game what with that yellow Ancient Weapon recolor, haha. I think I'll be checking out its source game too because of this.

I also just noticed you're the dev who made Gallantmon, another favorite of mine to play. Your characters are fantastic! I'm gonna have to add more of them to my collection. :praisesun:

Felix, you are one of my favorite rivals mod developers, and morshu was the reason why i even got this game, you are a great dev and i will be sure to take a look at super gear quest.

It's actually not a reference to that or the Kirby one; it references an original character, lol. Whether or not that character's name will remain as just "Nightmare" or not in the future is unclear though.

Alright; The jab parry stun issue has been fixed along with a bunch of other new things such as more runes and compatibility!
