Less Red more Art - UI Mod - Chaos Dwarfs Update

Description
Chaos Dwarfs Update
Adds full Art support for Chaos Dwarfs and Wood elves. Dwarfs, The Empire and Norsca are the remaining races missing some art. Custom movie backgrounds have been turned on by default, but can be disabled in the MCT settings. The bug with missing LL voicelines in the campaign selection has yet to be fixed, but can be enabled by disabling custom movie backgrounds.

I do not own the Chaos Dwarfs DLC so support for Chaos Dwarfs is untested, let me know if there are any missing art with them.

Mod Configuration Tool Update

Support for Mod Configuration Tool by Groove Wizard is out. You can now pick and choose what parts of the mod you want enabled/disabled. If a change can't be toggled on/off in the MCT menu, feel free to request a submod that turn it off instead, but please check the MCT menu before making a request.

Menu Movie Update
The game now got several new backgrounds you can play in the main menu, introducing music from CA's DLC trailers and from WH2's menu. There are also now two new submods, Menu Movies Expansion 1 and Menu Movies Expansion 2. Both mods work independent of each other so you don't need to download both to enjoy the background/music you prefer. The mod is not compatible with the prologue campaign, please do not have this mod activated while playing the prologue if you want to see the cinematics

IE Update
New backgrounds added for Lizardmen, Warriors of Chaos, Vampire Coast, Skaven, Dark Elves and Tomb Kings (TK is using what's likely placeholder art for now). CA didn't give High Elves, Tomb kings and TWW1 races unique backgrounds, so I'm assuming those will arrive at a later date. Lizardmen and Cathay have had their theme colour changed from blue to green.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ever wondered where all of CA's amazing art went? Why that panorama mod from TWW2 was never ported over to TWW3?

Well wonder no more! Panorama images are back and no longer will CA's art be hidden behind layers of semi-transparent filters.

What does this mod do
This mod removes the shader/filter that covered the background on the technology/character skills/daemonic progression screen. It also adds colour to the background, giving each race a background colour more fitting their own race. Minor UI details have also been changed to match the new background. It also adds background art for building browser, lord and hero recruitment panel, and panorama images for settlements and special "settlements" like hordes, ogre camps and black arks.

Bringing back panorama images

Panorama images are back and in a mod compatibility friendly way! No data coring of twui.xml files. Each panorama image have been upscaled via https://www.upscaler.ai/ and cropped to better fit and fill out the whole settlement panel

Submods
  1. Looking for Vampire Coasts sea shanty and other background movies? Menu Movies Expansion 1
  2. Looking for the Ogre Chant and other background movies? Menu Movies Expansion 2
  3. Need to remove the factions_tables db from this mod due to mod incompatibility? Install this submod

FAQ

Q: Is it save game compatible?
A: Yes, every change is dynamically made while running the game.

Q: What is the flicker when I first open a panel?
A: Since the mod makes all UI changes via script to ensure compatibility with other UI mods, during the first load you might see the old panel for a split second before it changes to the new UI, this flicker should be gone when opening the panel for the second time, though performance may vary depending on your CPU.

Q: Why does the Dark Elves panorama show up in [insert not a dark elves territory]?
A: If you don't play English localisation, there is a chance certain provinces won't show correct culture panorama until CA tags those settlements with a culture.

Q: Does this mod support multiplayer?
A: I don't know as I don't have anyone to test MP with. One user reported that it works fine and another reported it doesn't work fine.

Future Plans

Looking to fully bring back the parchment UI later down towards Christmas when I got time to look into it. I will then also try to see if I can make the mod multiplayer compatible. Please do not ask in the comments about either of these topics. I'm aware of it and will look into it when I got time.

Recommended UI mods

  1. High Resolution UI Improvements by prop joe an absolutely essential mod in my opinon
  2. Building Progression Icons III by Spartan VI and Rum Raisin, feels like a natural extension of the game, I'm shocked that CA haven't implemented a similar function.
  3. UI Improvements by Addan Deith
  4. EXPERIENCE RANKS by Addan Deith, finally you can see if your unit is bronze or gold rank, espescially useful if you are planning to play chaos in IE.
  5. Unique Faction UI [BETA] by drew_west and Müsliriegel
  6. TWW2-Style Skill Recolour by fraggenburg, it might become obsolete with the IE update, but it fits great with this mod.

Credits

All the folks over at the modding den[discord.gg]. Espescially DrunkFlamingo, Groove Wizard and FiftyTifty for answering questions and helping me figuring out how to make the script work.

DJ Fro-Fro for developing RPFM, a tool far superior to the previous PFM.

Creative Assembly for the art, I made none of the art pieces, that full credit goes to the boys and girls over in England.

@Ulrik H.D Nice to hear it mate, I do think CA still deserves a lot of scrutiny, but the game received decent updates recently

@Gleen Cross If I ever find time between my other projects and clear some space on my SSD, I might return to modding now that CA seems to care about the game again

A shame this mod is abandoned. Besides the main menu backgrounds who got messy ever since CA finally included their own take, this mod was working fine until the latest DLC/patch (as usual, classic CA breaking mods), but some factions backgrounds are out of position, like these Lizardmen examples: https://i.imgur.com/JPs7t7y.png and https://i.imgur.com/gndxj81.png

If the author really abandoned the project, hope someone else can take over, one of the best (if not the best) UI mods in the workshop

@Pazuzu you need to download the mod "Mod configuration too" (MCT) it will add a button in the main menu on the right top side, where you can change settings for many mods, including removing the backgrounds and other stuff :)

bring back Plague Cauldron background for Nurgle please, they removed it in the new update

"But is there a way to remove the main menu backgrounds added ? a submod or something ? I would like to only keep the ingame ui changes"
+1 to this. As it avoids the sound changes when selecting a campaign lord.
