TSO - Hinge with 1x1 Small Head

this really should just be vanilla.

@Domaorn - No problem. I have over 3.6k h and maybe 900 h or so modding. I still have my face palm momments Don't forget to sacrifice to Lord Clang! Or Despite all these hours, I still feel like I have much to learn.

found it im add the wrong "small" oops even with 4k hours im still learning haha

@Domaorn - When you first place the block, you will get the Large Grid Head. Grind off the Large Grid Head. Then you can go to a control panel, find the hinge, then select add small head. If you have the mod "Build Vision" you can select add small head from that.

soooo it worked last night but i did nothing else.. i used build to add small part and i get the large.. do i gotta do this through the control pannel?

@Echo Mande - My original idea was to have 3x3 and 1x1 pair.

I was having an issue with initial placement and some crashes. I may have another look at it.

I was already looking into the Large Adv Rotor with 3x3 head if needed for large component transfer.

This could be pushed to the extreme to cover pistons. There unfortunately isn't a 3x3 small piston in vanilla yet, but having second and third heads for the large grid piston with ports for respectively 1x1 and 3x3 small grid would probably be welcomed by many, even if those piston heads were still their current 5x5 small grid size. Imagine a large piston extending to your spaceship with a 3x3 connector on its end and approach lights and a camera mounted around it.

I know there is a vanilla small grid conveyor converter block now but allowing all rotors, pistons and hinges to all spawn heads for port sizes equal to or smaller than their own size seems a good thing. Note that this also applies to the 3x3 small grid examples.

Very nice, but there is plenty of room for improvement.

Is it possible to let the hinge spawn either a 1x1 or 3x3 small head or the large head from the menu? I use the 3x3 head a lot for things like height adjustable connectors where the 1x1 head wouldn't be useful.

Pushing this idea further, would it be possible to extend the mod to also cover rotors? With the 1x1 small advanced rotor the large grid variant spawns the 1x1 small head instead of the more useful 3x3. Being able to spawn either would make many people very happy.
