THIS MOD IS 1.12.5 Compatible!

Succession Expanded
is the second project from the Expanded Mod series which aims to create a more historically authentic experience through the addition of multiple new succession types. From the Mongolian Kurultai, the ancient gathering of the Mahestan in Persia, to the Imperial selection of the Eastern Roman Empire, your world will contain unique ways of ascending the throne!

  • Introduces a selection of new elective succession laws: Imperial Elective, Mongolic Succession, Royal Elective, Mahestan Elective, Outremer Elective, and Eldership Elective.

  • Modifies the existing elective laws by allowing them to carry over to newly founded titles, applies them to historically appropriate duchy titles, and fixes a series of vanilla bugs.

  • Incorporates the Salic Law Mod and applies Male Only succession to the appropriate cultures and titles at game start.

  • Modifies Restore the Carolingian Borders and Restore the Holy Roman Empire decisions to match with our new historical changes.

  • Adds a "Historical" game rule which activates a series of events representing the division of Louis the German's territory between his sons. The game will simulate the succession of his sons to their appropriate kingdoms and assign elective laws around the appropriate dates when certain conditions are met.

  • Imperial Elective
  • Drawing on the elaborate legal inheritance laws of the Eastern Romans, the Imperial Elective is a special succession type available to emperors with the Byzantine traditions tradition. Emperors may assign their heir as a Co-Emperor in order to boost their candidate score, thus further securing their succession to the throne.

  • Mongolic (Kurultai) Elective
  • Mongolic Elective, based on the historical Kurultai, which is now an innovation available in the Greater Steppe Region and initially unlocked by the Mongolic peoples who live there.

  • Royal Elective
  • Based loosely on the Inheritance systems of medieval kingdoms such as Poland and Hungary This law centralizes inheritance within the family at the cost of vassal opinion.

  • Mahestan Elective
  • For those who enjoy the challenge of restoring Zoroastrian rule to Persia, this is the succession type for you. Only usable by characters who have restored Zoroastrianism as the Sayoshant, this succession aims to represent the ancient successive practice of the Sassanid Empire. The Mahestan will value closeness to the current shah, piety, and good virtues.

  • Outremer Elective
  • Outremer Elective is based on the crusader concept of Proximity by Blood and the notion of the King being the first among equals. It is now unlocked via a new fully stylized tradition available to Catholic crusader kings.

  • Eldership
  • Representing the role tribal elders played in the role of leadership, Eldership is accessible and applied on game start to the Vidilist Baltic states and West African rulers. Elders are based on age and high learning skill.

  • Feudal Elective Additions
  • An additional features added to Feudal Elective is the addition of Co-Kingship. Taking this major decision simulates the consolidation of power by the French kings and their appointment of Co-Kings to secure succession. The decision stabilizes your succession but comes at a cost. The Co-Kingship decision appears with the Hereditary Rule innovation.

  • What mods are incompatible with this one?
  • Succession Expanded was made with compatibility in mind. Mods that add new governments to the same titles or cultures affected by this mod will be incompatible and require a compatch.

  • Is it save-game compatible?
  • No. The proper title laws will not be assigned and historical events will not fire unless a new game is started.

  • Can I use your code in my mod?
  • You may use Succession Expanded in your mod, but you MUST credit the Succession Expanded team on your mod's description page.
