About This Game

Weeks Till Winter is a turn-based strategy game about placing buildings to maximize resource and population gains. Resource management is minimalistic, but skilled play requires planning and deep game knowledge. Seven different procedurally generated worlds are available offering varying resource compositions and terrain topology, providing progressively more challenging experiences. Or enjoy casual creative play in free-build mode, without time or resource constraints, to make something interesting and beautiful.

Place buildings on top of natural resources to harvest those resources, and keep buildings near related buildings to earn bonus population. Each building placement spends a week of time, and the passing of weeks leads to the passing of seasons. Building placements can be undone and retried within a season to maximize gains. Importantly, some building arrangements trigger bonus structures, generating extra resources and additional population. Discovering these building arrangements from clues within the game is part of the challenge!

As your population grows, you are able to expand to new areas with additional resources and space for more complex structures. You must take care, however, as the ruins of a previous failed civilization lie scattered about, and they can sense your presence. When winter comes, nearby altars stir, unleashing terrors upon your city which can only be held back by heat and flame.

Find special items, or purchase them from a mysterious hermit, to trigger a variety of effects, such as boosting population gains, enhancing resource production, or destroying altars and winter terrors. Any special item can be used without spending time, but using such items will clear any available undo actions. Sometimes there is no going back! Use these tools wisely to reach the highest thresholds of success.

In addition to the randomized, procedurally generated worlds, the game also includes 20 puzzle-like challenge maps with specific time-constrained goals, and also provides the level editor used to create those challenge maps. Using the editor you can unleash your imagination to create your own custom worlds!

Along the way, you may discover fragmentary manuscripts buried in the ruins of the failed civilization that preceded you, or otherwise hidden throughout the game world. Through voice-acted journal entries, cryptic fables, and historical records, you can piece together the forgotten lore that explains this world.

Weeks Till Winter offers:

  • 7 different worlds of procedurally generated terrain for standard play

  • 20 puzzle-like challenge maps

  • A free-build mode without the constraints of resource costs nor winter terrors

  • A level editor to build your own playable worlds or custom scenarios

  • A lore-based fragmented narrative, with more than a dozen hidden manuscripts to discover

  • and windmills!
