What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“vivid/stasis is a non-profit, story-based game. As such, it takes quite a bit longer to develop than it would if we had a budget and worked on it full time. Since it will be a while before the game is "complete" (all story content released), we've put the game in Early Access so players can play and form thoughts on new content as it gets finished.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will leave Early Access on its second anniversary on March 8th, 2025.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are developing a full, complete story mode for the final, non-early access release of the game - a multi-episode narrative experience. We plan on releasing each episode and their additional songs throughout the Early Access period, with anticipation of the final episode being one of our last updates before call the game a complete wrap.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game's main rhythm gameplay (and the accessibility / visual features associated with that mode) is present in the Early Access version. At Early Access Launch, Version 2.0 features the following modes: Free Play (Rhythm), Course Mode (Rhythm), and the first chapter of the game's episodic storyline.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. vivid/stasis will always remain a free game experience.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Bug reports in our Discord server is read, if not always responded to.”

About This Game

EVERYTHING IS ABOUT TO CHANGE

vivid/stasis is a rhythm-mystery hybrid game that follows the fates of four girls as they get wrapped up in a mind-bending adventure involving organizations, mysterious disappearances, and the fourth dimension. The game ties together an ongoing interweaving storyline with varying levels of music-based gameplay.

In the rhythm game section of vivid/stasis, you'll find yourself facing various levels of difficulty, with many options for customizability to play the game your way. Casual rhythm gamer just here to enjoy the story? Hardcore VSRG legend looking to find a new kind of challenge? There's a good chance you'll find it here! Between "Opening", "Middle", "Finale", and the extra-spicy "Encore" difficulty, players will be sure to find something fun for their skill level no matter their prior experience with rhythm games.

Unlike other traditional vertical-scrolling rhythm games, vivid/stasis introduces the concept of "Bumper Notes"; notes that take up two lanes. These notes can be hit with either of the keys assigned to the lanes it falls under, giving the game a unique playability with strictly four keys, despite the six types of possible notes.

The song list of vivid/stasis features well-known and prominent artists in the music game scene (Tanchiky, Camellia, Silentroom), but also shines light on a fair amount of lesser known producers in the rhythm game scene.

On July 21st, 2022, Tsuki Tasogare went missing after not coming home before her agreed time with her sister, Saturday.

An investigation was picked up, but after less than a day of little to no progress, Saturday finds the lack of enthusiasm for finding her sister confusing, and gets impatient.

And so, she decides to look into it herself. Alongside her friends, Allison and Kotomi, Saturday hopes to uncover the secret behind her sister's strange disappearance... and isn't quite ready for what she discovers.

Spread across multiple chapters, help guide Saturday to the almost-impossible truth that lies beneath the veil of reality.

After all, you're the only one who can.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

The story in vivid/stasis covers the following topics that some may preferred to be warned about beforehand:

- Characters frequently swear both in text messages and out loud with other characters
- The story generally covers themes of unreality, trauma, and poor mental health
- The game makes use of its status as a video game as a tool for its story
- Some story content covers themes of survivors' guilt, grief and mourning

Please note that the game may not feature all of these elements at the time of playing. These warnings apply to the full story, which will not be complete until the game is no longer in Early Access.
