Why Early Access?

“We wanted to get the game out there into the hands of the community in order to get feedback and grow this game along with our players”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current plan is to release the game in mid 2024 however this may change depending on features added and how the game will progress through early access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The game sees you taking on cases, each case is it’s own self contained mystery that may tie into an overarching plot. Each case is expected to have a runtime of around 3 hours, and have several potential killers to track down (the identity of which will change from playthrough to playthrough). The early access version of the game will entail one case, with more being added up to full release, and potentially more as DLC further down the line.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build entails our created assets and core gameplay mechanics. These mechanics are currently being implemented into the first playable version of the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will not change during early access however we plan to raise the price upon release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will be involved in every step of development and can provide us feedback and suggestions in the Steam Discussions as well as our Discord server. Private betas for development builds will be offered to those who offer us regular feedback and can directly influence the future of the game.”

About This Game



The Department is a single-player narrative driven detective game. Investigate crime scenes, interrogate suspects and draw your own conclusion. Each case has a range of suspects, but the true killer changes from playthrough to playthrough, so you will always need to keep your wits about you.

Be careful, because in The Department, how you solve a crime is often just as important as solving it. Mishandling evidence, and improper treatment of your suspects could lead to you failing to bring justice to the killer in question.
