Why Early Access?

“After three years of development with a year and a half in Pre-Alpha, Skye: The Misty Isle is ready to move into its Alpha stage, and we feel it is finally time to open up and show you what we have been working on. At Aurora Game Studios, we believe that you, the community, play a vital role in the development process. By participating in Early Access, you can join us through the game’s evolution and help our small team craft a legend worthy of the gods!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Development has been planned into distinct phases based on the nine Norse realms. Early Access will begin in Phase 0.3, Muspelheim, and will see the game undergo six major updates before its final full release. We cannot currently confirm the exact duration of the Early Access period, but we will provide regular development updates to keep players informed.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access, a temporary border will be added to limit the playable area and allow us to carefully craft regions of our vast maps. This border will be expanded periodically throughout development, with both maps fully available at full release. As the game develops, we are also planning to introduce a rich narrative in which the player will follow Einar through his journey from curious explorer to legendary raider, as well as comprehensive performance and visual updates to ensure players achieve the best possible experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Alpha Early Access will begin in June 2024 with the release of Phase 0.3, Muspelheim. Featuring the initial regions of Norway and Skye, 15 settlements, and 140 encounters and points of interest, so players will have no shortage of places to explore.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the full release has yet to be determined. However, it will likely increase to reflect the additional features and content we plan to introduce and develop throughout the Early Access period.”
