Why Early Access?

“Research Story is being developed mostly by a small team of one programmer/artist and several composers. We've gotten valuable feedback for the game since our demo's release, and the game wouldn't be what it is today without it. We want to continue engaging our community as we work towards the full release, so we can build a game that you love!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 6 months to a year. Depending on player feedback and suggestions, this timeline may change and I’ll be transparent with any scheduling updates as we continue development.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“These are some of the additional content and features we plan to include in the full version of Research Story:
⁃ More creatures, fish, and crops, and expanded researching mechanics.
⁃ More NPCS, more romanceables, Heart Events, and a marriage system.
⁃ Additional features such as festivals
⁃ More content for decoration and building
⁃ Controller support
The full roadmap will be shared on our launch day.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Research Story features core systems and gameplay:
Research, farm, tame, fish! Players can complete research scrolls by observing different species, growing crops, taming animals, and fishing. There are currently 60+ researchables (crops, creatures and fish) in the game.
Explore the caves and mines! Players can also explore the mine for ores and gems, forage mushrooms, and solve puzzles in the caves of Shimmerbrook.
Befriend NPCs and go on Dates! Players can meet and befriend over 15 townsfolk, learning some of their backstories along the way. You can also schedule dates and hang out with 6 of them, and enjoy various activities while on a date.
Craft and Build! Add decor and useful items to your farms, such as Creature Pens, Shade Cloths, and Sun Lamps. There will also be Crafting Stations such as the Stone Forge and Composter where players can craft more items.
Complete Main Story Quests to uncover the reasons behind the plant and creature appearances in Shimmerbrook.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Research Story will be offered at a lower price during Early Access, and we expect the price to increase as we transition to full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will be involving the community mainly through our Discord server and Steam’s Discussion forums. I’m always happy to hear your feedback and suggestions, and look forward to building a fun and adorable game with the community!”
