What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Receiving feedback is important to determine whether the direction a game is taking is what is also wished by the audience. Obviously the community might also have great ideas that can only be heard if there is a place for them to say it and the developer still has the capability to implement them - features crammed into an already finished games are rarely as good as if they were implemented early on.

And of course a game like this also needs a lot of playtesting for things like balancing and finding bugs which a small developer can hardly do without the help of a community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Hopefully 1-2 years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Mainly there will be more content, such as events, decisions and unit types.
Existing gameplay systems may get more fleshed out and graphics can be more polished.
Further optimizations on the AI and CPU usage is likely going to happen as well.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All core systems described in the "About This" section already exist in a functional state. The game balancing is likely off and more testing is always good to ensure everything works as expected. Depending on the received feedback, all systems could still change drastically, of course!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, it will not.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Listening to any useful feedback is key. As a developer it can be easy to lose sight of what's important in your own project as you lack the perspective that outsiders have.

You are welcome to post any ideas and suggestions on the official websites forum, the Discord or Steam forums.

And perhaps you are also interested and capable to modify the game yourself - many games have shown that a modded game can contain way better ideas than the base game (which could of course rub off on it)!”

About This Game

Rise of Hegemony is a strategy game inspired by great games such as Civilization and Victoria. Triumph over your neighbours by successfully managing your country economically, diplomatically and militarily. The path to global hegemony is up to you.
  • Subdue your enemies by pure military force.
  • Forge alliances and diplomatic pacts to be part of an unstoppable coalition.
  • Educate your people to eclipse your rivals technologically.
  • Become an economic powerhouse and make other nations dependant on your resources.

In-depth economy

Rise of Hegemony features an in-depth economical system where every province contains a discrete number of people that all need resources to survive and thrive. Lacking access to sufficient amounts of critical goods such as food will cause your population to starve. Without access to weaponry your soldiers will be woefully unprepared to face enemies in battle. Trading with other countries is important, being dependant on them is perilous.

Build up your country

Starting as a fledgling country the way you want to conduct yourself on the world stage is up to you. Acting peacefully and benevolent has its benefits, but sometimes a more warlike approach is a quicker way to achieve your goals...

Randomly generated worlds

Even with the same strategy every game can take a vastly different course when the world looks different and countries will develop distinctively depending on their starting conditions.

Moddability

Rise of Hegemony leaves a lot of room for mods to expand on the game. Do you prefer to focus on a certain time period? Perhaps a fantasy setting is more to your liking? The possibilities for alternative scenarios are plenty!
