How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early access version of Wartorn is intended to launch with a polished experience and a wide range of Units, Squad Upgrades, Hero Upgrades, Family members, Biomes, Maps, events, and quests.

As we move toward 1.0 we plan to refine, polish, and implement community feedback, along with added higher-tier units, bosses, squad upgrades, hero upgrades, biomes, maps, events, quests, and of course.. the true ending to the story.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Wartorn in Early Access is intended to provide players with a rich experience that feels good, is highly replayable, and features a high level of polish from the start - including fully voiced characters, an original musical score, and deep upgrades and systems.

The player may reach certain points in Wartorn where it is clear that additional content is coming, but should not feel intrusive.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We're offering a discounted price during Early Access, which will go up once the game officially launches (version 1.0). If you grab it during Early Access, you won’t need to pay anything extra when the full version is released.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our main goal with Early Access is simple: to make the best game possible with your input. We’ll be collecting your thoughts through Steam forums, our social media, and our Discord - while also monitoring player behaviors and telemetry.”

About This Game

Wartorn is a single-player, squad-based, roguelite campaign experience where players play as Yara and Elani, sisters who have been driven from their home and must traverse the wartorn Isles of Talaur to reach the safety of Beynun, their ancestral fortress. 

Systemic Elemental System

Wartorn features a systemic, emergent gameplay system using the elements of fire, water, tar, plant, and lightning. Strategically choose your squads to master the elements and environment against hordes of enemies. Water extinguishes fire, tar amplifies fire, electricity crackles across the ranks in wet conditions, and water can heal plant-based units. And that’s just scratching the surface!

Squad-based Combat

Build out your Caravan by recruiting squads of fantasy creatures including goblins, elves, demons, treefolk, (and more!) as you travel the world. Each squad adds new strategic options to your caravan through their different characteristics and unique abilities. Mix and match what squads you bring into battle to truly master a run. Battlefield positioning, squad combos, and skillful usage of abilities can win the day, but be careful, losses cost you morale, and if your caravan loses hope it’s game over.

Strategic Replayability

The game’s blend of strategic and roguelite elements offer deep replayability, with each run feeling fresh thanks to emergent gameplay, dynamic squad management, and unpredictable narrative events that can save your struggling band or cost them their lives. 

Locating your lost Family

Search the Isles of Talaur to meet Yara and Elani’s family, who reveal pieces of the game’s story and  grant the player heirlooms that bring with them new advantages and abilities for future runs.
