I just finished the last mission / Operation Leviathan and a turn or two in noticed that the character portraits were all ones from the Avenger. So I cleared them all out and waited for this mod to work it's magic. It never did. I finished the game with the default XCOM logo for all my troopers. For some reason the cameraman didn't like being underwater (or maybe he didn't get through the gateway?)
Never noticed any other problems with this mod throughout the campaign. Excellent stuff.

That's a characteristic of -bg-'s mod, the Avenger photos aren't available, have a read of that mod's page. However, give it a turn or two and this mod should have replaced those placeholders with actual photos of your troops.
It's woking fine for me.
