Your character will die over and over again. The reason is their life support script. Having no life support on the ship your character is in, it acts like you are exposed to vacuum.
But if you browse their other mods, there is a sub mod that disables the life support system. Alternatively you can -
1. Create a ship with a supported race character.
2. use the following commands on them
/admin
/spawnitem shipT8
/admin
3. Use the item you just got to full upgrade the ship.
4. Exit Starbound
5. Take the .shipworld file from the new character (which is the most recently modified file) and use it to replace your other character's ship via file duplication and renaming (after deleting your old one).
Before that, empty your ship of anything you want to keep. And backup your file too.
When I was using BYOS, I forgot that there was no way to change the character’s spawn position, so after I finished making the 200*300 spaceship frame, I realized that when I returned, I would not be in the right place I planned.
Fortunately, my friend recommended this mod to me, which gave me the opportunity to translate the spaceship. Although I had to cut the spaceship into three parts and then stitch them together, the final result was perfect.
But it seems to have some conflicts with the ‘RPG Growth’ mod. When I was using this mod, it invalidated the value brought to the player by attribute points in the RPG mod.
If possible, I hope you can tell me any simple solutions
Thanks again
By foregoing the meta-materials in favor of regular blocks, and forgoing a background (or foreground) image, you have "build your own ship" mods such as this. But ship to ship combat isn't possible with only the modding API, since the ships aren't vehicles in the first place.
As for the game getting that feature as an update, I really doubt it. If anything, i think that might have happened in Beta if it was going to happen at all. Work aside, you'd lose your existing ship and everything in it... that doesn't seem acceptable in a released game.
But I don't know when or whether the update will come... :-/
No, as both mods are ship replacements. However this essentially does the same thing as the BYOS mod (allowing you to build your ship from blocks and objects) but with additional parts and features. Using both at once would be meaningless.
The only other ship mod that I know of that actually pairs with this is my Shipyard Rebuild mod, which I had to specifically alter to work with this mod. In which case you can build a ship in the bays, and the bays act like space (zero G, no air). Ditto for outside the shipyard.
If you where only looking for more parts to use with the BYOS mod (without new mechanics), then you might want Hull Plating Blocks and More (HPB+) which could be used with either mod.
I don't really think they're working on this anymore, thought it does still work. So I doubt that would get added. You have 2 options to use it anyhow with whatever race.
1. Make a patch to have that race use one of these ships.
2. You can create a ship with a human (etc), delete your main character's .shipworld file, rename the human character's .shipworld file to match the one you deleted from your main. You can then delete the human (or whatever) character.
If you take option 2, you probably want to cheat all the ship upgrades first. Attempting to upgrade an unsupported race's ships in-game will result in changing back to the ship that race is supposed to have.
/admin
/spawnitem shipT8
/admin
If using the mod for only some characters, you'll want this to avoid dying on the other characters

It can still be used, but I'd recommend to install the fix mod from C0bra5's comment directly below yours. In the event that you use FU too, there is a more FU friendly version of this mod you can find.
I managed to lose my and had to look for its ID for some time. That`s quite a situation.
/spawnitem madtulip_shipstation (for those of you who get into the same situation)
That would be a problem if they don't have it too. If they don't have the mod too, then they'll encounter assets that (to them) are undefined. If your ship was build from totally vanilla assets, that would be alright probably.
That's why I made my own ship mods with the assets in a prerequisite mod - so others would really only need the prerequisite mod without the actual ship mod. This isn't set up that way. Everything in one mod so all or nothing.
Now if you just want parts - you can find a lot in Hull Plating Blocks and More - which isn't a ship mod itself and can be used with this mod(or any BYOS type mod). If your friends where also subscribed to that mod, it won't affect their ship so it isn't a problem.
and no i don't think so
Compatibility with certain things aside, what makes you think this needs fixed? I don't think 1.4 touched anything ship related.
