Cool idea, but it doesn't work. The engines don't have enough thrust to lift themselves.

I love these little engines! I wish I could have them for large grids, though. Being restricted to small grids is limiting. Great work, though!

do they just act like re skinned thrusters or do they actually keep you off the ground like idk invisible wheels or something?

I loved this mod back in the day, made some great hover tanks, haven't tried it in the new frost bite update but would love to know if it still works as I'd love to make hover tanks again with the new AWG tank weapons.

It ain't hard to make it work, tried it myself and found that it is really nice, though the angles are misleading sometimes.

EctoSage, A few suggestions:
1- In your showcase video you stated an interest in making blocks able to tuck right up under the disk, next to the suspension part. Maybe by having the hover drive built as two blocks, like rotors do. The suspension would be hand placed, and the disk auto-populates from there, as per rotor.
2- You also expressed an interest in lighning effects around the disk. Perhaps talk to DarkStar about how they achieved a similar effect on their shield generator modded part.

Less of a suggestion, more just spitballing ideas here, but what about setting up a large invisible wheel collider and soft suspension, to simulate a "ground effect" when near terrain. Also possibly setting up thrusters so each disk has some forward and backward thrust, allowing each disk to have some thrust vector control.

They don't appear to work at all, and produce no thrust (even whilst set to maximum override) whilst draining power.

They basically have more breaking thrust then normal engines and less actual thrust. So they can hover well but have trouble with going up fast on their own. On the plus side unlike the new hoverengine mod they don't have the small height restrict the hoverengine mod does.

Just like normal thrusters... tell me if I'm doing something wrong, but otherwise this mod is pretty pointless and the hover engine part is just false advertisement.
