Unfortunately, this mod is using just a background image, and it is not possible to place the table on it like some of the DLC games can, as they use 3D models. I do have a mod on my workshop that uses a 3D model that should accomplish your request: Holodeck - Model Workshop Link

Where would I start if i wanted to make it so the table looks like its actually on the floor. some dlc games and the workshop cafe do this. im not asking you change it just how can i?

Hello computer

To clarify on loading this with another game active.
Click on GAMES
Click on WORKSHOP
Locate the Holodeck and click on the OPTIONS popup
Click on EXPAND
Click on Custom Background.
I had a heck of a time finding this. I'm still learning TSS in general, so this may be a normal process for custom backgrounds

In the case of this background I modeled and rendered this scene as an equirectangular projection, Another method is to take a lot of screenshots from one point of space and use some software to stitch those images into a single panoramic image. Either way it takes some work to get it to work.

is there an easy way to turn an image into a 365 panorama?

No worries :)

To load the background without losing your current game setup. Locate the Holodeck Background mod in the workshop. Click on the arrow that appears on it, there should be another thing that pops up that should say "Custom Background - Museum" click on that. That should load only the background without disrupting your game.

So, this is beautiful but is it limited to the core games? Since I can only access this in the workshop section, loading it will remove any existing workshop game already loaded and loading a game after the bg just undoes the bg.

@Zurganus It's unfortunate that the custom backgrounds cannot be saved into your chest, that would make it so much simpler. The missing arrow in the workshop appears to be a bug. The only solution I found is to go back to the main menu, then try it again... I hope there's a more permanent solution soon.
ZurgOtter 11. jan. 2016 kl. 3:16
I can't seem to get this to work properly. I mean I can load it up via the workshop menu, but I can't figure out how to save it to backgrounds, there is no arrow.

You're a god among men sir
Psyrek  [ophavsmand] 5. juli 2015 kl. 22:25
@Mephz
Sorry for the late response. You can use it in other games by going to the host tab, then the workshop, then navigate to Holodeck Background, there should be a down facing arrow on the right side of it, click it and then click the Custom Background button
Mephz 4. juli 2015 kl. 9:45
How do you use it for other games though?
Psyrek  [ophavsmand] 3. feb. 2015 kl. 17:30
@mooch The only table I seem to have the lack of shadows with, is the glass table. I can't reproduce it on any other table.
primitiveType 3. feb. 2015 kl. 17:26
do shadows not work in this room? it is normally helpful to have shadows so you can tell exactly where a card is being dropped. We don't seem to be able to get them to function in this room.

-Went back to 8k resolution, the quality is noticeable.

If you want to compare versus the 4k, just load this after looking at the 8k version:

@Star-X I've uploaded a Jorrvaskr background. I'm willing to change it around a bit.

Star-X 1. feb. 2015 kl. 9:25
Regardless, both 4k and 8k look great for TTS and provide a great background that's fictional AND a place where tabletop games would likely be played, which is exceptionally rare among the various backgrounds on the workshop. Now if only someone would get around to making an HDRI background of a Skyrim tavern/guildhall/whatever for fantasy settings... (Jorrvaskr would be a great one due to the huge table in the middle providing a great place to play tabletop games)

(sorry for two comments in a row, 1000 character limit)
Star-X 1. feb. 2015 kl. 9:25
I'll be testing the comparison in a bit, to see if 8k vs 4k makes any difference on my PC. RAM wise the 8k one didn't eat up that much with AA, AF, and shadows all set to low or off (for reference, 550k is actually quite low for TTS since it crashes the moment it hits 3.something gb of RAM being used due to being an x86 program instead of an x64 program, so 1/6 of that limit is actually quite safe...it's when it's dangerously close to 3gb that one should lower the resolution of images immediately, as going over 3gb is a recipe for crashing due to not being 64 bit).

[Updated]
-Changed it back to 4k resolution
-Changed the scene and lighting around a bit

It still loses a lot of quality being imported though. The original looks like https://www.dropbox.com/s/9s77v8ur35nr0pt/real.png?dl=0
Psyrek  [ophavsmand] 31. jan. 2015 kl. 15:53
@Star-X I believe the image may be scaled down and converted in the engine. The lighting in the image is banding once it is imported, it looks fine in the original.

I'm working on making a nicer looking version, and hopefully I can get the importer to replicate it accurately.

I'll compare the 4k vs 8k to see if there's any worthwhile advantage for the larger image.
Star-X 31. jan. 2015 kl. 14:42
Scratch that, works fine. I checked the RAM usage on the image once it's loaded, and it's 550k with shadows on low, Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering off, and textures at full resolution. Obviously the recent patch has suddenly made huge-as-hell images viable thanks to being able to turn off the damn AA and AF and lower the shadows to absolute minimum.
Star-X 31. jan. 2015 kl. 14:37
8k might be pushing the engine a wee bit hard given how bigass background images can actually cause crashes. I'll see how it is in a few minutes, though.

Well since this was initially just a render of my low poly model, I thought this deserved an overhaul.
-Model completely redone
-Lighting redone
-Changed to 8k resolution instead of 4k

That is really nice.
Star-X 28. jan. 2015 kl. 17:44
Seeing as how this is actually a place where one might play tabletop games, AND is a fictional locale, this is probably the best background on the workshop atm.
Riddix 27. jan. 2015 kl. 13:49
well done - looks really great !

Cleaned up the render a bit, also made the door a bit brighter.
