@SEGA CA only added the Timeless mode after the game was launched so it is possible. I have seen it a few times before. TBF Timeless mode is now useless since I have given every single character that matters, an extremely long life span.

On the other hand, the wrong turn number in the character board after the faction is destroyed may be a bug in the original CA code.

I at least know that I can get Ma Dai even if I confederate Ma Chao, as Liu Bang from another campaign. And normally, characters even on "death" cool downs can join a recruitment pool but will only be recruitable after their "death" cool down has been complete.

When I was playing Liu Bang, I found that after annexing Ma Chao using the "Union" diplomatic function, Ma Dai could not be hired.
