@Rolf Mützelburg My opinion really is that I like sat-texture just because it is easy to for me & I personally like the colors demonstrating where and what I need to place. Game textures are kinda eh for me...However, I do like that they are consistent, but sat makes it feel like the real place if you get what i mean (since im really only rn making real places not my own...). Now for painting textures im still learning and I recommend finding a tutorial online for that like I did....... sorry if i rambled on,Today has been quite long lol.

Curious about map making, as there are so few people who know how to do it.

What's your opinion on sat-texture vs game-texture?

I know sat-textures look better from the air, but I find the transition between them jarring.

I usually prefer game textures, as they provide a more consistent color pallet across all ranges.
But since Sat-images and terrain-scans are indispensable for creating such large maps, how would one go about painting textures?

What did you do for the ground textures, Sahel or something else? I've been working on a near-east map but I'm not sure what textures I can work with.
