hey Ceed , ton mod est toujours a jour ?
Hughsie28 26 apr 2023 om 11:37
Latest release has a visual bug where the solar panel still resembles the "being built" stage and does not render the complete stage textures (but still functions while complete as expected)

@Vas your pack is actually way better and the energy conversion rates are better, sad that another modpack developer wouldnt share or collaborate
jokerace45 10 nov 2016 om 17:21
Do a search for VonCeed under Mods and you may find a DX11 version
Roman Cat 13 nov 2015 om 1:57
Nope for dx11.
PumpkinKing72 21 jun 2015 om 7:26
Hi Von Creed I was wondering if you are planning to make this DX11 Compatible? Or is it already?
Vas 17 dec 2014 om 6:15
Schlachter125, efficiency of a solar panel's max is set. You can not convert energy into more energy. If you get a steady stream of 100, you can not take 100 and make it 200. Converting energy to another energy is converting it with a loss, if lossless, then you are converting it at peak max possible efficiency of 100%. You simply can not get 101% or higher efficiency.

Guys, if you liked Von's solar panel mod, you can check out mine. I have a dish shaped solar panel in it. However, I have not frozen development, and I have balanced it as well. I at one point asked Von if I could add his solar panel to my mod, he said no. So I can not add his. Sorry. However, it shouldn't be too hard to create a new one with the same exact shape, I just chose a circle because it looks nicer. :P
B-Rain 19 okt 2014 om 19:56
You say that the solar panel reaches a maximum energy production of 1 MW . Really well angulated, producing 1.10 MW. Is a false value or actually produces more than plead?
Saxxon 14 okt 2014 om 11:40
Are you planning to make any more interestingly shaped solar panels? I love the unique shape of this one.
megapro 20 sep 2014 om 6:50
@Vas: The efficiency of solar panels is not a set value. It depends on how advanced the technology is (-> the higher the spectrum of light wavelenght it can use.) So it is reasonable if solarpanels from this mod generate a different energy amount per m² then vanilla solarpanels.
Vas 9 sep 2014 om 1:06
Alright. I'll just make my own then. :P I figured I was gonna do that after I saw yours in action anyway. xP
Von Ceed  [auteur] 9 sep 2014 om 0:59
this what?
my mod?
no
Vas 8 sep 2014 om 17:44
Von Ceed, Do you think I can add this to my solar rebalance mod?

NEVER AGAIN I PROMISE !
Diarkus 19 aug 2014 om 21:25
possible bug ive used a small group of these in survival and when i reloaded my game the majority of them actually despawned (1s closest to the station) after salvaging the remainders i was hoping it wassnt a bug on the mods side cuz i made it so my stations solar dependant but also put down a few fully charged batterys incase it happens again

ok thank but, next!
Create ur own mod , thank you!
Vas 18 aug 2014 om 6:30
Just 2 of these would max out the input of a battery which is 1MW.

Currently though, your solar panels don't work by game logic (2.4kw/m²) or real life logic unless you park yourself closer to the sun than even Mercury's closest run.

By the way, "Superficie" means "Area" in English. Just helping you out with a new word. xP

Anyway, I was just trying to help you make your mod not break the game's laws of thermodynamics. Even though the game breaks the laws of physics and thermodynamics by real life standards anyway, unless you orbit Venus, but anyway. If you make a solar panel in the game, remember that the game uses 2.4kw/m² solar constant. That means that you can collect 2.4 kilowatts for every visible meter of your solar panel that is facing perfectly at the sun.
Vas 18 aug 2014 om 6:30
Vanilla panel gave you 120kw, for the largest possible panel. I explained this already. It was 4x2 blocks in size, and gives 120kw.

Now, if you just go based on how many blocks it is, 7x7 blocks of surface area, lets assume it's also on a large ship/station. One block is 2.5 cubic meters, we only need one side, so 2.5 squared meters. Solar output for the game is 2.4kw per meter squared. That means 1x1 blocks has a surface area of 6.25 meters, and can produce 15kw of energy, that's 7x7 = 49 blocks, 735kw of energy. But your device is round. So you have to subtract 8 blocks worth from it, 4 full blocks, 8 half blocks. Now, that takes away 50 meters of surface area. Leaving you with 615kw of solar production. I think my math from earlier may be slightly messed up, I am checking the values. But these values here seem to be more accurate. So, if you were to change it to be game accurate values, you can have it max out at 615 kilowatts of energy, which really, is a huge amount of energy.

if a vanilla panel give 0.12Mw for effective 0.217x0.1254444 unit/mesure
My panel have 0.889x0.889-(0.596x0596) unit/mesure
result: effective Superficie for vanilla =0.02722
effective superficie for VonCeed solar panel = 0.43510
0.43510/0.02722 = 15.98
now : 0.12Mw * 15.98 = 1.9176Mw
My VonCeed solar panel give 1.5Mw
What did you expect, whats else!?

This solar panel has a surface area of about 102.5m², now, if we use the game's 2.4kw/m² power method. That means you have a max power of 246kw. Considering that the 4x2 solar panel produces 120kw and has a surface area of 50m².

Now, lets try Venus, which has a solar constant of 2.61kw/m², 267.525 maximum possible output. Lets try Mercury with it's solar constant of 9.12kw/m², 934.8kw.

Wow. Your solar panel isn't even logical at the range of Mercury. You would have to be about 0.3055 au away from the sun to obtain this sort of power, that is about 0.0818 au closer than Mercury, 12,240,000 kilometers. That is 30.2 times further than the moon is from earth.

This looks interesting, I'll wait till it's survival ready though I think...

;)
