The block damage is caused by corrosive rain and heavy thermal storms. The only way to protect your grids from it is to keep them underground.
1. Which weather causes this? I wasn't sure if it was corrosive rain or radiation storm.
2. Is there anything to protect against this? I even had a decoy on the grid, and while it was the first thing to be destroyed, the rest of the grid didn't last long after.
For weather damage to work you need to turn on lightning damage in the world settings, the recent update has turned this off by default.
You don't need to paste a new one, the changes are applied automatically to existing ones.
Sure, go ahead.
Thanks!
We're wondering whether our hangar and base will suffer once we dig through to the surface.
What are the damage rules of the various weather types? Are they all effectively like lightning?
If it's not a planet issue, try going into alt+f10 then Trash removal settings, Voxels, and disable any regeneration of voxels.
I tend to disable all trash removal upon creating world, only leaving anything on if i play combat and there's lots of ships falling apart etc. Without much combat, there's not any need for trash removal.
The mod works as intended with the current version of the game and block damage is the same in creative and survival mode, so your issue may be caused by another mod.
The only way to protect yourself against the storms is to be underground.
